I Have the 996T and the 396T and I love them (despite my "accident" to the 396). I was thinking on getting the 996XT for the home soon. I would like to hear more about it.

http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=34339&pid=196440&st=0entry196440 This morning at approx 00:30 to 00:40 hours, Ansonia PD received notification of a working structure fire on Bassett Street between May and Cedar Streets. Squad 9 was first on the air and from their quarters across town could see heavy fire from the building (incident s was on the west side, Co. 3 quarters on the east side of the river). 601 (Co. 6 captain) was first fire officer on scene and ordered Engine 3 to come in from Cedar street side and Engine 4 to come in from May Street. The size up was a 2 story wood framed 4 family OMD with a "widow's walk" heavy fire from B, C & D sides and through the roof. Engine 4 took the hydrant at May and Bassett and waited for Truck 7 to com into the scene. While enroute Car 22 (Asst. Chief) had ordered Engine 3 to roll from Co. 3 since they had a crew and Engine 4 signed on shortly after from their quarters four blocks away. Engine 3 had the hydrant located past the A / D corner of the building and Engine 4 feed Truck 7's stang. Derby FD was notified for an RIT unit thus Engine 11 was assigned. Car 21 (Chief) arrived on scene, assumed command from 601 and ordered a full second alarm, placed Engine 11 to work ordering them to take a hydrant at Howard Avenue and Fr. Lar Drive, proceed into the parking lot of "Pine Lot" located behind the structure. A second RIT unit was ordered from Derby FD, Engine 13 assigned. Ansonia Engine 1 was third due to the scene and Ansonia Engine 5 was relocated to Co. 3 to cover the city. Station coverage was ordered thus one engine from Seymour covered Co. 4 (Murray Street) after being initially sent to Co. 1 (Howard Avenue), Oxford sent an Engine to cover Co. 6 (Main Street) and Woodbridge had an engine at Co. 5 (Pulaski Highway). The second floor of the B /C side collapsed during the fire and the master stream from Truck 7 was used for most of the operations. Lines from Engine 3 and 4 were used from the outside and stinger of DFD Engine 11 was used on the "C" side. The fire was darken down about 30 to 45 minutes into the incident and placed under control at about 01:30. Ansonia's FMO and the State Police FMO were on scene and all units cleared approximately 15:30 this afternoon. The residential structure was old and it is believed it was erected between the 1850s to 1880s. Over the years it had undergone several renovations and converted into a four family residence. All the residents were relocated by the Red Cross. Units operating on scene Ansonia: Engines 4, 1, 3, 6, Truck 7, Squad 9, C-21, C-22, C-23, C-25, FMO & Ansonia EMS. Derby: Engine 11 & Engine 13 (RIT) State Police FMO

I'm not sure how Seymour was dispatched, I only had my duty pager with me. When I got on scene Engine 3 & 4 & Truck 7 had already started operating, Engine 11 from Derby was laying in across Howard Avenue into the parking lot of the park in the rear, and the Squad was setting up its light tower. It might have been confused due to the 4 apartments being understood as 4 buildings which it wasn't. The only exposure problem was the two-story two family located on the "B" side, about 30 feet away. "A" was the street, "B" like I said, "C" was a back yard 50' wide by 30' deep to the property line where the "Pine Lot" parking lot was and "D" was the hill to "Pine Lot" park. We went into the exposure to confirm there was no extension to it but there was plenty of damage to the vinyl siding.

We went from working 24 / 72 to working two 10 hour days, two 14 hour nights then 4 days off. Our OT and sick time use has increased dramatically and it has become much harder to fill shifts and take vacation time. Plus too we are very short staffed right now as many positions have not been re-filled.

I like the Arrow XTs except for one thing, those ugly large AC units on the roof!! Pierce could have designed something better. But then again its a working fire truck and not a parade piece.

You guys were at NEFEA off Broadway in North Haven (the other side of the bridge from NHFD HQ closer to Route 5. The facility is the old DMV emissions testing center and Jim purchased it several years ago fro his business. The have / had a lot of rigs there from NY, CT, MA, ME, VT and NH. Quite a facility. Branford's Engine 7 (the Sutphen that formally serve as Engine 1 before being replaced by the new Smeal) was actually refurbished, repaired and repainted at that shop. It was there when my vollie company was building out current pumper. BTW Damon just made it 2-1 Yanks, solo HR.

It looks like its the same body spec as the Seagraves and Pierce XTs. I have to say being from the area their rigs are set up nice and simple!

Sorry couldn't watch it, my favorite Barney and Teletubbies episodes were on again.

Its easier to replace a window that was taken out, ie cost less money to replace the window and fix the dents to the car door, than it is to have the hose go through open doors and after being charged, bends the door hinges and A-pillars. 8.33 lbs of water per gallon times amount of gallons in a (X) length of hose times psi of water from a open hydrant equals total number of psi one the interior walls of said hose is equal to or great of the reaction force applied of the charged feeder line. (Don't worry this is made up equation not a real one, just did it to open the minds eye a bit.)

Next time I come down for a visit, I could bring my squeegee and act as the "wiper".

Pete, Yes I know that the 'Scope was a canopy cab Mack CF. I believe there are pictures here and on FDNYTrucks.com of it prior to the referb. With the exception of being red & white, its looked similar to Belltown's Mack 'Scope.

I WANT TO OPERATE IT!!!!! Hope you all have great luck with it!!!!!!!!

Hey all, We are looking into the posibility of having a website for our union local. I'm currently looking at the same web developer that did the IAFF and UPFFA as well as several other locals. I'm looking for other companies as well to compare them and see what is offered. Basically getting the best for a good price and the company having reputable service. In other words, who do you use and what do they offer?? If anyone can forward me some information it would be greatly appreciated. -Izzy

Just to let you know, sdome iformation from the CTFire forum, one member stated that the scorring weight is 60% on the written and 40% on the oral exam, which is negotiated between the City and the Union. If there are any changes, it has to be negotiated between the Union and the city, otherwise if he was to win this suit, the neogiated agreement would be thrown out. He only scored well on the oral exam. This is going to get interesting again. We'll see what happens and I'll post any new updates.

Geezz try working being a firefighter at a casino!!!! We get requests all the time for pictures from people who head to the clubs at night located there see us when we are in our uniforms or gear and its like flies to a lightbulb. Sometimes we are receptive most other times we are not due to what is going on at the facility. The problem mostly is that people don't realize both casinos in CT have there own fire departments.
