Talk about screwing Conan up against the wall! That really stinks, Jay is old news and should finally give it up.

Yes it would. I have the Mack Fire Trucks 1911-2005 book by Harvey Eckart. There was only 1 Mack R semi-open cab truck built and that is the one currently in service at the Vigilant Hose Co. 1 in Port Vue, PA. Its blue and you can't miss it. As for the CF's it states there was "about a dozen" built. I know for certain Valley Stream and Rowayton, CT both purchased the semi open CF pumpers and Riverdale, Maryland had the only semi open cab CF / Maxim 100' aerial ladder. In the book, one went to Cumberland, MD, Pomona, CA and Connellsviile PA, which was later sold to Dunbar, PA (this rig was white with a think lime-green stripe down the side). The video posted has all of the rigs in it if I am not mistaken.

I may be confusing what you mean but Rowayton in Norwalk, CT had a roof-less Mack CF just like the one Valley Stream used to run. As far as I know they purcahsed it new.

Rest in Peace.

I like getting together after a fire, training or just to hang out with my brothers and sisters at the local watering hole or coffee shop just to have a BS session. That is what is lost today also, everyone is too GD busy.

I have Comcast where I am in CT. We lost Fox 5 WNYW last month due to the local FOX station up here (WVIT 61) using that Syntax law bull to block their signal since both were broadcasting (well not really) the same programing. Its a frigin major network and FOx 5 was way better than our local channel (with except of the local news). I'm still trying to figure out how they were able to have it blocked on cable when Fox 5 is in the broadcast area of southern CT!

What is EMTBravo becoming????? The question back to you should be what do you want it to be? What suggestions have you provided in feed back to us the web-team to make this forum better? Granted there are discussion here that do get heated but unfortunately there are those who post that cause the problems that hide behind their screen names and cry for the Wambulanace while others don't hide who they are and speak from the heart and share their opinion. Granted Q-Tip (sorry Chief) is a redundant statement here but its the truth! If you can't respect another person's opinion then maybe its time to go away or just become a lurker. But that too is counterproductive. We strive to make this a better place, if there is a problem with a topic or thread, you can send a report. People complain that we over moderate, oh well sometimes we have to because stranger things have rolled over into the public outside of forums (not saying this happened here, but it has happened on other forum non-emergency service related sites). Making a post like this in my opinion to the public is not following the chain of command that is set up here, this is a concern that should have gone to the Mods and Admins first, not out to the rest of the forum. We try to do the best here in watching over the threads but at the same time not trying of be the "overbearing mother". And yes I agree with JFLYNN's post as well!! He is right to the point about what merits surround your concerns and allegations. And again, those should go to the Mods and Admins, not to the membership. As one of the upper officers on the site, I am going to leave this thread open and hopefully after my post maybe, just maybe there can be some constructive suggestions made how to make it better for you, the members. But I'm gonna throw a "devil's advocate" question back at you. In the mind set of communities and politicians which is easier and most cost effective, to replace several buildings with a larger one that would cost millions of dollars trying to find a good central building lot possibly having to go through eminent domain since there is a crunch for space or retrofit an existing building that is already still in excellent shape, in a central location and falls with in the standard ISO requirements? See where I'm getting at? Don't get me wrong NY, I agree with you comments of benefiting from re-distribution but sometimes it is not feasible.

Billy, they have been talking about it but I think you will see the game head up to Canada next year. Should see it withing the next few years. Though a Rangers / Islanders would be a great game, I still want to watch the DEVILS get beat at GIANTS field first !!!!!

Nice to see that two Nutmegers have been announced to be on the Olymipc Team! Also nice to see Tim Thomas was named to play too (still not forgiving him for not payin' attention and letting that first goal get by him!)

No matter what type of department you are a member of, it should be staffed with qualified personel. In my opinion, you rig should be staffed with a minimum of four persons with the breakdown of an officer, driver, and two firefighters, all who are interior qualified. Three persons would be an acceptable minimum with the driver beign interior qualified. This way if the driver has to "beach the whale" then the three on the rig can go and do interior work if the pumper / aerial is not needed to operate at the scene. At my vollie company we always tried to have 3 or 4 on teh rig before we did a transfer or atleast make sure we had someone meeting us at the cover station whether it was one of our members or another one from another company. Where I work, we only have two firefighters on our rigs (only a engine and truck are staffed). Obviously a little issue there in my opinion but you can only do so much with cutbacks.

How did you make out MFC??

I tried to replicate it but I haven't at home, however at work on IE 6 it does do it for me. First off, make sure that you are using the latest version of your browser!!!!! If not you need to upgrade it now. The problem seems to be Java for the shout box is not catching up with everything else. So when you start scrolling, it locks up because its is still loading all of the components. Also clear out all your temp internet files, browser history, and clear the cashe out as well. There are files located here that "remember" the settings of each site you visit and sometimes the do not get "updated" so to speak. Another it to make sure that you have enough virtual memory on your computer available. Now don't get scared of this but 99% of the time we all have it set so that Windows allocated the virtual memory needed. You can check this setting under your Control Panel and leave it as such. Don;t try to set it to something else unless you are an expert user. In all, don't start scrolling through the website until everything has had a chance to load up. Let me know if it continues for you all. I'll keep working on it and sent the information to Seth.

You more than likely will not see the PassPort system on any scanner currently. PassPort operates (to my knowleged) just like the older Multi-Net system, which Waterbury CT operates on. Sad that we can't listen to it, but it is a good system to operate on.

Not all the facts are out there as of yet so don't past judgment. I am watching this on another forum as well and we will see where the problem is. The information out there is not all correct as of yet and the things mentioned in the article are only a small percentage of the purchases. Norwich has an interesting set up with how the career department in the city center and the outlying vol companies are worked. I will keep everyone informed what is going on. It does sound like a possible misuse of funds and also a problem with the city making payments on the items. Its kinda confusing right now.

There was no question that the old central firehouse where Jackson Engine and the Fire Patrol (and many years before that Jackson Hose was there too) needed to be replaced. Just sad to see this come about this way after the building was desperately needed. Hope everything works out. I'm fond of Nyack as I spent a lot of time there since my ex live just up the road a bit. But I can also relate to it as it is similar to my home town. Its one of those old east coast areas where the roads were narrow cart paths and buildings were build close, if not on top of each other. When paving came about, the streets couldn't be widen mainly because of where all the buildings were build along the roadside. Also if you look at the older firehouses like Mazzapa's, Highland's, Empire H & L (in Upper Nyack) and even the location where central station is, you can tell they were there during the days when men were men pulling their rigs some great distance, being tired as all heck then having to battle a fire. If anyone has evere done a carriage run or pumped an old hand pumper, then you know what I'm talking about. Even with horses, you needed to rest them since they could only go so far! Same reason why the N.J.F.D. (Nyack Joint Fire District) has two TDAs for aerial ladders. I hope things work out.

Thank yo for the information on that. I really didin't look fully at all the pics, I only saw the door "missing" on the left side!
