I know over in Japan, Isuzu is used for their fire apparatus chassis as well.

If your in Nassau, you more than likely getting traffic from CT on 46.20. Ansonia used to be on 46.20 but we since moved to high band exclusively. Glastonbury has a simulcast / broadcast of their UHF system on 46.20 and the antenna is pretty high up. Also there are a few departments in Middlesex County CT that use 46.20 for thier ops frequency (I think East Haddam and Haddam do) whihc also have links to thier UHF systems.

I listened to the job when I heard the dispatch over my scanner. (Yah I know, hard to beleive 44 Control was stomping over Valley Shore in CT in my neck o' the woods). Sounded like they had their hands full when it came in. I'm at work but there are some pictures and videos of the job on a couple different websites. I'll see if I can find the links for them later on.

And to add to your quote Barry, which I agree with wholeheartedly; ".......Your actions better back up your words!"

I have received the unfortunate word that the Beacon Hose Company No. 1 in Beacon Falls, CT. has suffered a Line of Duty Death this morning. Past Asst. Chief and current Fire Police Capt. Kevin Swan passed away this morning while responding to a reported structure fire in the town. Captain Swan signed on the air enroute to the scene but he never arrived there. He was found in his private vehicle at his home in cardiac arrest. Rest In Peace.

Kinda off topic but I saw a new Isuzu cab and chassis box truck and I swear the cab looked very similar to new Spartan Furion cab. Could the cab skins be made by the same manufacturer like they did with the old Ford C / Mack N cabs? Hope you guys have good luck with the new rescue, looks like you will be able to put that rig anywhere!

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand. Happy St. Patrick's Day my friends! Éire go Brách!!!

How is the SWAT from the sheriffs working out in the city now? Also do you think Middletown will eventually re-establish thier own SWAT unit if funding is re-instated?

When WH-ERS moved into the new police station, the long term project was to combine both entities into one city-wide service. Maybe that is why they are looking for a permanent director, but I am only speculating.

I can't believe that it is still a "hot debate" whether to wear SCBA at a car fire or not!!! In my mind its a no brainier with all the poly-carbon parts let alone the fluids that give off noxious gasses when they burn. But in the defense of the crew putting out the fire, they did remember the basic attach especially having the line between the building and the car.

Where I work we have the weekly checks split up between the days of the week. So Monday the engine is Monday,. squad is Tuesday, tower on Wednesday, ect. Since we are split between Day / Evening shifts right now all mechanical is done during the day hours and inventory during the night shift (with the exception of staff and support vehicles) Our mechanical sheet list everything from checking the fluids, tires, body damage, filling the tanks, SCBA, testing the saws, hurst, ect, and making sure all lights work just to name a few. The inventory list is just that making sure that all the equipment that is supposed to be on the rig is there or if its is OOS or missing. We also do a full med bag inventory as well. Our sheets are set up monthly so you can see what was done / found over the month. Also we keep the records for about 2 years from the day they filled out.

Though not a member here on EMTBravo, this kid has been arrested for stealing radios and another equipment and then selling them. It seems like most of his stealing took place in Long Island and possibly around Brooklyn and Queens. This was a hot topic on NassauFDRant, QRZ Forums (HAM) and RadioReference. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/cops_nerd_stole_emergency_radios_qoGnN9kqM6WtE1HSlLfPIM This kid is a licensed HAM operator and was actively selling radios through EBAY and other forums. If you have purchased an item from this person, I highly suggest getting in contact with the police agency that is handling the investigation to protect yourself. Izzy

That's a lot of truck there!!!! Good luck with the new rig!

Very last fully built Mack or very last Mack built CF chassis? I know there is contention between all the apparatus buffs about that. I know the last fully built Mack fire truck was in 1984(ish) when they just went to building chassis.

I love the "special storage compartments" description in the ad!!! Going back to when fender compartments were not standard!

The only thing I am going to add to this discussion is the everyone needs to look at your state and federal CHILD LABOR laws. That will determine the who what when where and why of the issue.

Only one mistake in the article, Shelton does not have any full-time firefighters. I believe they meant Cromwell which had added career members in 2005, might be a typo in the article but it is very well written.

I got an answer that they are not for the USAR, a friend of mine is a dog handler on the team so you are correct there Alex. They have to be either the bomb squad or SWAT / TAC team units for CSP. There are a few troopers on the USAR team so that is what made me think that they were possibly trucks used by them.

I asked around, the black truck could be for the Bomb Squad of the CSP also. Trying to confirm.
