Well, they could probably get them for hate crimes, which is not covered by the 1st Amendment!

Why even have an extended bumper on a truck company apparatus? My opinion, unless it is set up as a quint so that a front trash line can be installed, to cut down on the overall length on truck company apparatus, there is really no need for an overly extended front bumper. I can see maybe if the truck is set up for extrication purposes to have a hydraulic line, even an air line off the front bumper. With truck company apparatus being up to 40 or more feet long, you would want to cut down what is in front of you for the sake of a proper turning radius (meaning shortening the front end for easier maneuverability). But that is my view.

The actual model for the Mars lights are "888", just wanted to pass that along. I like the truck, think it set up nice but I've never been a fan with having PWs out on the front bumper.

...And maybe keep "North Tarrytown" on it??? <joking folks!>

Ferrara's aerials are not made by them. All of thier aerials are made by Smeal. I doubt you see Ferrara going into the aerial manufacturing market anytime soon.

Well with the amount I had to drink on the cruise, I only would have been good for the "tanker shuttle"!!! LOL

Well I think their minimum manning was working a quite a number of hours a week let alone probably living in the station full-time with one or two days off a month!!!! Barry, what was the work week for the paid men back then?

I've been on the Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas and watch while they performed a drill. It is really neat to watch how they operate for a ship-board fire. A lot of fire prevention is really the key. I did get to speak with the some of the brigade members and even the captain while I was on the cruise. For that ship and I know also for our military, they utilize the salt water for firefighting. I don't remember though how the fire pumps get the water if it is drafted from the undersides or of the bow or stern. When I spoke to the brigade members they said they always train and actually love to have the visitors watch them drill as it gives a good sense of security. One of the brigade members jokingly asked if they could knock on my door if they needed help!!

One of the major problems with the new car why it took so long was because thy were causing interference with Metro-North's signaling system along the tracks. They wanted to make sure that the problem was rectified before any service. Here is the wiki info" Quite honestly I rather Metro North go through the trains thoroughly and make sure they are working properly before being placed into service. I rather sat through the delays than worried about getting into an accident with a non-100% operating train system. I know this for a fact because of a person who I know works in the NH shops and worked on getting the trains.

Well, at least none of them are in a maid's outfit.........or did I speak too soon????

Man long lays on a cold day, not fun repacking that hose bed. Looks like the relay set up made sure there was more than enough water for the units operating.

Actually both of these sirens have been out for a couple years now and have had very impressive results. Driver's who were in the testing phase of development liked the fact they "felt it" way before it police car was right on top of them. With cars built today with so much sound quieting materials, this siren makes a unit more noticeable.

The Croton E-119 thread has been closed and removed by me for people not staying on topic and flaming the administration. Secondly though a member has been banned, this has been and continues to be an ongoing investigation by the administration. As part of the rules, this is not up for discussion by the membership on the forum threads about a specific person. With that being said, that does not mean that members cannot discuss actions through private messages. Please stay on topic in threads and remember the forum rules. Thanks Izzy

Read the AP article here, should answer some of your questions for now as it is still under investigation: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gsbctj4xluevNv0TRO5K-GNztH6Q?docId=c2afcd12bb6544189495d6ac54e84cfb It was a private dwelling, so probably no residential sprinklers. Many daycare services are conducted at homes and yes usually they are alarmed or have smoke detectors. I don't know thier local laws but the article quotes: ...

Black Bear's New Haven website says it all: http://www.blackbearnh.com/ AND BTW the NH Register is like the "Liar Alarm" on the Island. People who post comments there have no life because none of them stand behind what they say.

Got to love the old Fallout shelter logo on the front of the building in the last picture. I remember when they started to remove all of them in the late 80's. Wish I grabbed one! Great old firehouse, back when they looked like firehouses and built to fit in with the neighborhoods.

I'm asking everyone on EMTBravo to boycott ALL Blackbear Saloons's and Wicked Wolf Tavern's where ever you go. A CT career firefighter was denied entry to their establishment in New Haven last night because he is of Asian decent and they used a derogatory term when referring to him!!!! He was denied entry because "he had baggy jeans on" and was called a racist name. A great majority of the firefighters and his co-workers inside heard about this and came to his side. After all he was still denied entry and he went on his way. TELL THEM WE WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS!!!! Thank you - Joe

Everyone, I have been informed that this occurred after the event, not during the event. I am sorry for the misinformation posted but still this should not have happened to our fellow firefighter. I have corrected the original post. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The Wicked Wolf in CT is owned by the owners of Black Bear chain right next to it. Thank you for the clarification to make sure that an establishment that is not business related to the ones with the problem would not be effected. We don't want to hurt an establishment with a similar name.
