I just wanted to hit on this. In this day and age, all of CT's town's cities and boroughs have and are required to post their charters and any other legal information as ready for the public. Only thing a person has to do is to look it up on like or head to city / town hall and say "hey I want this information." Thank you FOI. This will dispel everything, but it seems no one has gone this route to prove that the mayor may have been hiding known facts. Or I might just be looking at it differently.

Good thing you never listened to his morning zoo show on KC-101 up here in CT when he was on the radio, sucked just as bad.

CT lawmakers own their own cars but their license plats are swapped out with legislative / senate district plates for "official" business.

They left in 1984, so 27 years ago. That's when Figgie/Kersey moved them to Bloomfield. VA and the Century 200 Series came out, along withe the Pacemaker and another low-end budget truck. Then they went belly up because Figgie bleed them out in 1991. The Freightliner bot them because of Jim Hebe, and I though they had a change but soon as Hebe said bye-bye, the production went down, again. Then this mess.........................

ALF has not been the same since they left Elmira.

After a long 2 1/2 years, IAFF Local 4746 which represents 21 employees of the Mashantucket Pequot (tribal) Fire Department vote favorably last night to accept our first contract. The negotiating committee did a fine job of getting a fair contract for the next three years. For some this may not seem as a big deal but for us it is. We are the first tribal fire department who organized under Tribal Law (non federal sponsored department) to receive a contract from our employers. During the process the Local and the Tribal Government ran a very respectful and honorable negotiation process, all in good faith. Our department covers the Mashantucket (Western) Peqout Tribal Naton lands in the town of Ledyard, CT. We also protect the Foxwoods Resort, MGM Grand at Foxwoods, all tribal government properties and tribal member's homes. You can read the press release here at the New London Day's website: http://m.theday.com/theday/db_40429/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=ChgnYSSG&src=cat (any problems with the link please let me know) If you come visit, you are all more than welcome to stop by the firehouse. Looks classic with the gumball on top of the ALF!

Thanks Barry, I misunderstood what was written.

Okay I have a question. if they are just a CERT and only in a social status, only own a rig for parades and do not respond to any alarms (not even buffing them out I guess) then why does the fire department administration and city politicians let this go on???? Are they even considered an Exempt or Veteran organization??? I kinda find it hard to beleive they get half of the total fire department budget, that would be asinine!

I Can't Drive 55!!!
-
It's a plug and play device. What happened is that the drive was not detected upon the computer's start up since you had it set up for your other computer. With the laptop, you need to "eject" the external drive. So, with the drive unplugged, reboot your laptop from a cold start. After Windows loads up, replug in the USB cable into the laptop. It should be detected once again. When your done, go to your hardware icon by the clock in the start bar and do your "safely remove hardware" process.

That is Ruff!

I beleive it was the first in the state but don't hold me to that. I'm not sure what year Hartford's old scope was. I know Vernon FD came out of Brooklyn originally purchased in 1972, which then became Tower 116 in Scotland and unfortunately was destroyed in an MVA about 2 years ago. Hazardville FD in Enfield and Manchester 8th Utilites FD both had 1978 rigs (Hazardville's is now serving West Stafford). I know East Hartford operated one also but I don't remember what year that was.

Age, the Mack was 40 years old (1971 vintage). It didn't meet the standards now required for apparatus, like having an open canopy cab for instance. The engine was more than likely "tired", they needed more compartment space, ect. What is nice though is that the Aerialscope booms are basically a crane and when re-furbished, they are like brand new.

Right down to the orange roof on Howard Johnson's outhouse!!

The first true cab-forward fire engine was built by American La France, the 700 Series in 1947. The concept was born out to the ALF JO/JOX series which was close to the cab-over-engine designs similar to current custom fire apparatus. Ahrens-Fox introduced their cab-forward design in the mid-1950s until Mack bough the rights to the design in 1957, re-designating it the "C". The Mack CF (next generation of the C) came out in 1967 / 1968. The CF in Pierce means "Cab-Forward", the Mack CF designation comes the combination of the C model fire chassis and the F is from the Mack F model over the road truck which the new fire cab was based / taken from. That explanation folks in is every Mack book that I own. Look at an old F Model Mack then look at the CF cab driver's area, same design. As time progressed and we went to enclosed cabs, the cab-forward design was still being used. Mack CFs, ALF Century's and Century 2000s, Seagrave cabs, Pierce, Sutphen and E-One (ect.) all enclosed their cabs. Then tilt-cab designs came out for easier engine maintenance access. Companies began offering Cab-forward tilting cabs (engine still mounted where the crew sits, E-One made a ton of these) and Cab-over full tilting and split tilting cabs (Engines located up front in the driver / officer section). It's not a new concept, it was a forgotten one. The Pierce Dash was by far the most popular model back in the day by the company, better than the Lance. It had more room up front when they moved the engine up when it became a cab-over design. I don't know why manufactures went with putting the engines up front on custom cabs, they should have kept them in back. Pierce as the one that capitalized on that and introduced their ten-man cabs (why they heck do we need a ten-man cab for an aerial or pumper??????) when they moved the engine up. Hey it was great that the crew had more room but now you cramped up the driver and officer, especially with the bigger engines. I'm glad the concept is coming back with moving the engine to the rear of the cab area where the crew sits. And the truck by no means looks to me like a Mack CF. It looks like a Pierce.

Well it looks like an era maybe ending. The Hartford Fire Department simulcast radio on 154.31 went off line the other day. They have been experiencing problems with it recently and the radio finally failed. HFDRadio.com who provides the feed to Radio Reference has switched over the feed to the EDACS trunked system fairly recently so there is no interruption of service. I'll post any further for those who listen to HFD if they bring up the 154.31 radio again or not.

The 154.31 cross patch simulcast is back up and running in Hartford. The VHF radio will have to be replaced in the future to keep the simulcast going.

Stuff like this really ticks me off. I can understand having fun, doing some ribbing with fans from the other team but you don't make it personal! It's not supposed to be that way, but then we have morons like this. I hope Mr. Stow makes a full recovery.

Does it do 1.21 jig-a-watts with that mixture??? Hey, its just like any new vehicle with "hybrid technology", expect the unexpected!

Its actually nice to see someone actually putting on the gold leaf and hand painting the letters and applying striping. That is an art form that is going by the way side. Nothing like a person actually performing the work and putting pride into t it as they apply it to a vehicle (whether a fire truck, motorcycle or custom car).
