Seth, with that mount, does it get in the way of a passenger sitting in the seat or no?

RIP, very sad. Too much violence once again hitting the streets all over this country.

Nothing like keeping history alive!!

Looks very well thoughtout and planned. Hope NRFD has good luck with the new engine. When the crew went out to look over ther truck, did they get to go out back and check out the steam tractor collection? I though that was great to see all those old tractors there keeping history alive. PS, Barry, I'll let you drive my Smeal if you let me drive yours!!!

Sorry to hear about your loss Vinny.

Technically HIPPA does not cover photograph's, it only covers patient personally collected data. I think it is an attempt to cover the loophole as we would all assume that a paitient's image would be considered "data". I'm only assuming. I have a close family friend who is a state represenative for my area, I'll see if I can contact her and get some more information about the history of this bill and correct information about it.

By my understanding, you mean a ride-along correct? Even so, if a buff (or another person from a different agency) is on a ride along, then they should be following the same rules as the first responders. Obviously if the person has permission to be there, then they are not affected by the rule. Honestly, if you are certified to help and allowed to operate on the scene, that is your first priority before taking any pictures. Obviously anyone that is taking pictures of an incident should be conscious of staying out of the way of the operations and be mindful of what they are capturing on film, which buffs are and take great pride in doing making sure that the photos are tasteful and not offensive. I'm sure there will be some leeway as this is geared towards more of the abuses by a few of the first responders in this state and also some of the news media getting in the way. ADDED Also this law is referring as worded in the last few lines to the patient being treated and without their or a family member's consent to post the picture of them specifically on a public outlet. It's not written concerning anything about taking scene photos.

This seems to be geared towards those who are abusing taking photos (meaning responders) then posting them up on news outlets, Facebook and such. It shouldn't affect buffs who are more conscious about what they take pictures off. There have been to many instances nationwide of this sort of abuse, now it just gives leverage to take action against that. It's one thing to be a first responder and take a photo of a patient at an accident scene for the purpose of patient care (showing the doctor at the hospital what the scene looked like) versus taking a photo for personal gain.

Smeal has been building TDAs now so the set up it there. You may see a Ferrara TDA in the future if they see fit to build one.

Look at the plate on the rear of the truck, it says 57. The way the bucket is are the doors are angled, giving the appearance of a 75.

GRE usually comes out with some good products but the Home Patrol is the best I have seen yet. People I know who have it have say that it's reception sensitivity is the best of any scanner out there.

I'm starting to think my cousins in Brooklyn are right by saying the should seceed from NYC and become their own city again, but then again, that was the beer talking! Just out of curiosity, how many single ladder houses are left citywide and would a consideration of moving them into a closer engine house be of any savings? I know that it probably won't even be a dent but it might help in a way. Just a though. Also did all the engine companies loose thier fifth firefighter in the last round?

I was told by the end of 2012, so it could be 2013 if that is the offical date. I got rid of Sprint long ago, horible service and even more horible customer service. And yet I still believe they pay off Consumer Reports to have thier grades fixed to show better. And that was with both a Nextel Hybrid and a regular Sprint phone.
-
Nextel is being dropped by Sprint next year I believe.

Just because it has a © doesn't mean that it is, it has to be registered by the author / creator for replications. If he's not registered, then its falsifying a copyright and punishable by fines and arrest... technically. Also for a correct copyright to be displayed it has to be like this: © 2011 - IzzyEng4 for EMTBravo

Very sad indeed. These men and women need a lot more help that they are receiving. I can't imagine what he was feeling on the inside. RIP.

One of the new fireboats was in New London's shipyard getting some work done last month I think.

Tradition (in the sense of prevention of moving forward) blocks progress while progress is blocked by politicians. Enough said?

The last Big East Coast power outage, my city's Gamewell system (with horns and sirens conected) were a big help since many people do not even own a standard phone with a cord. No power to thier cordless phones and all the cell towers were off line. We responded to 10 calls with 2 of them being workers. Granted our stations were staffed by members duing the outage, it still alerted the other members who didn't have Minitors or Plectrons at the time. Unfortunately the problem that all cities face is utilizing a 100+ year old system that is guaranteed to work versus the cost of trying to maintain it. The only problem that I have with the public is with those who complain that the sirens / horns are too loud but yet they'll buy thier kid a $1000 stereo system for thier car and you can hear them 2 towns away.

Trust me when I say it is amazing what people will put under, above or around a fire extinguisher after its hung. Regardless which came first and what was placed there second, it looks like the extinguisher is hung way to high on the wall. I do inspections every day and some of the things I come across still amaze me even after telling the workers you can put that there!!!!

Joey its too bad that the photo is a shopped one and not real, but I really hope that is something close to what he looked like after the SEALs got done with him!
-
Guys came into the room and said "Joe there's a call and oh by the way, the got Bin Laden!" Needless to say I was tapping the siren a little bit more than normal going to the call. Though we got the jerk, we still need to be vigilant and not drop our guard.

I belive Milford and Branford have boats that are capable of fire suppression duties. Not sure about the rest.
