  2. You know, I never introduced myself Joe Navin here Member and soon to be Past Captain of the Charters Hose Company No. 4 of Ansonia, CT (New Haven County) ALso Member of the Seymour Ambulance association and Ansonia Rescue Former C-MED New Haven and current CSP dispatcher EMT, FF-II, EMD, HazMat Ops, ect. FUNGI and like long walks on the beach Sorry had to and some humor there. Glad to be a part of this forum. Thanks all.
  3. Chief Andy Your right and I back you on that 100%. It is criminal. They are criminal. Heck what they did was in my mind the same as using a weapon against someone.
  4. Going to be hard, especially if they like HazMat 1's new Ferrara. I forsee them as the new rescue builder for FDNY if the current trend goes with specialty apparatus. The only Pierce's I know of are the HazMat tender and the two trucks left over from the USCG station on Governor's Island.
  5. Urgent messages should be thouse that pose danges on a scene, to firefighting operations and to dangers to firefighters sure as structural stablility, live wires, water problems ect. MAYDAY should be used when firefighters are IN DANGER. Examples would be if a firefighter goes down and needs to be rescued, fireifhgter is lost or assumed trapped with low air warining going off. Most of the same view I have are posted prior to me. There are too many times where Urgent and MadDay are used wrong. We need to have an "accross the board" standard meaning for all departments, especially for mutual aid operations.
  6. Find out who the rotten eggs are and throw them out!!!!! No room for this in the fire service, no matter if career or volunteer.
  7. Usually due to heavy traffic on the net or to his site. It's usually no more than 5 to 10 seconds delay. The site always has been like that, especially now there are more areas to listen too but its still not that bad. Just how computer process everything.
  8. I stand corrected on my last post. Seagrave is offering a ladder-tower mid mount configuration like Smeal & Pierce. NOT a mid mount ladder. I read the press release wrong. Here is the link: http://www.seagrave.com/About_Us/News/Pres...20New%20Mid.pdf There is a picture of this new truck on the web site under what's new. Laydon OH purchased the first one. Sorry about that all.
  9. This is one reason why that in ground pools should be fenced in of have some sort of protection around them. I know there is something on the books about fencing in pools do to child saftey in CT for all pools. Needs to be more protection though this may be a rare occurance. Just think this could happen to anyone. Too scary. Stay Safe
  10. You know I forgot about that one too. Thanks Steve.
  11. Seagrave just started making midmout aerials again last year. There keeping up with the competition with Smeal, Stuphen, Pierce and LTI American LaFrance.
  12. Check out strongsignals.net for more info. They usually have a lot of scanner reviews to help you out. If your going to buy a scanner, though RS's are very good, the people behind the counter really don't know anything about radios, or very few do. I like that store but no real help. GO to an actual radio / communications store that sells amature radio equipment. That is your best be for a real good explaination from someone or they tell you where to look for answers.
  13. I don't know, I was always under the impresion that the insert style were from Total Fire Group aka Morning Pride / Ben Franklin. As for the company officers and chiefs, I have no idea.
  14. Hartford CT is ISO Class one with 5 towers, no sticks. I don't know if that helped them. I think they got the rating in the late 80's or early 90's but I may be mistaken on that.
  15. When I left the Troop in Bethany CT (North of New Haven)at 0730 this morning, there was about 10 to 12 inches. I just woke up and I would say there is at least 16 or more w/out the drifts in western New Haven County.
  16. CPage, I know green was FDNY Marine Co's color but I didn't know about EMS helmets being organe. thanks for that. What does your department or fellow ff's use? Would be interesting to know. Boston has a cool set up with the black fronts with using white numbers for engines and red numbers for trucks, plus the R1 & R2 for the rescues.
  17. Here is something that I could never find out no matter where I looked and heards so many stories about. How did the colors of a helmet ffront get chosen Black for Engines Red for Trucks ECT. Is there any real reason why or standard developed over the years? Or where they just chosen. The departments up this way use or are close to FDNY's helmet color fronts. Black = Engine & Hose companies Red = Trucks and quints Blue = Heavy Rescue or Rescue pumper Yellow = Rescue Squad or Squad pumper Green = EMS White =Officers Gold = Chiefs and Chaplains This is not an acurate listing, just a total overview up here in New Haven County though there s really no standard.
  18. Tools and equipment I have Gemtor belt Folding spanner 25ft of webbing for RIT / FAST ops ringer extrication gloves Smith & Wesson knife with the built in center punch seat belt cutter two door chocks Garrity light on helmet (actually need a new one) shove knife EMS glove holder If you have a radio pocket on you coat, keep your knife there, easier to grab it.
  19. The only residentcy issue is that you need a CT driver licens to operated apparatus. Also, there should be no problem with the NY EMT licence. NY & CT have a rreciprosity agreement.
  20. Sorry for the spelling mistakes, I though the edit went through.

  22. Don't forget Steve and Adam wee in teh Wedding Singer too.
  23. No matter who, what, where when and how, the problem is still the same. Plain and simple it boils down to personality conflics and also the "I'm better than you" attitude" co-workers give each other. Trust me, I'm going through it right now with some members at my company. You can't change people's attitudes until they will do it themselves. But for me personally, I rather talk to a brick wall but that will never solve anything. As they say it's SSDD and usually never greener on the otherside. It's too bad. WORK TOGETHER PEOPLE!!!!!!
  24. ... And to think if they died, they would have had the Darwin Award for February 2006!!!
  25. An OTC mickey huh??? Oh Joy!
