How many places in our cities, towns, villages, ect. do we have nicknames for that originated way before out time???? Hell's Kitchen and Hell's Hundred Acres in NYC. Remember when someone from NY complained about the town name of FISHKILL, not knowing the dutch meaning of the word "kill" (though the spelling is anglecised)? Heck down the road from me in the next town is Sodom Road. I can understand on somenames can be offensive but you know if the people of a neighborgood identify with that name and suppor the "Skid Row" crew's name on the trucks thier taxes paid for, then keep it. I think if the officials are not fessing up to who complained, then it is someone from inside the department or someone who had great influence over the department. If the department feels that they don;t want it on thier truck, then be honest.

I though they had the body mounted on the MR chassis?

There are a lot of things that are going to be a problem here. Patient compartment camera and video screen????? Look where the screen is, down near the light switches. taking your eyes off the road eh? Put the window to the box back in the center and use a rear view mirror to keep your eyes on the crew and patient. Same height as eye level to the road and you only need to glance over. Communication headsets are a good thing but I can for see the wires getting tangled up and being restrictive. A speaker and a handset are just as good. Not for nothing, I never had a problem communicating with a driver through a window or better yet have a VOX monitor for the driver to hear whats going on back there. Tell you the truth, the driver has enough to listen and watch. The cargo nets for the compartments, not a good idea, They get ripped out, flop around, ect. Where those are, use the plexi, sliding doors., much safer. I'm not spending time refestening them up during patient car and god forbid we take a hard turn, more stuff on the patient. Any heavy equipment should be stored behind heavy style compartment doors or securly fastened down. Biggest pet peeve, only room for one patient lying flat. What you can't transport 2 boarded BLS patients anymore??? The seats are good but when you have a mass casulty and there are severa BLS boarded patients, taking them 2X2 is a good thing. It is lost here and going to be a problem, especially if they cannot get another unit there for what ever reason. The checkered paint might make someone think that this is a taxi. OH WAIT WE ARE<Evil snicker> Seriously though, what they are doing with the paint job is not the most pleasing thing but it does stand out. With the reflective striping and warning lights outthere, they don't need to go with the checkered scheme. The rear however should have the upsidedown "V" reflective striping like Europe uses, especially for highway saftey. Either a RED/ YELLOW or BLUE / YELLOW combo. There is a lot of good and bad here and I know its a concept, but again, they have to go to the crews to see what would work for them, not some pecil pusher in the main office who has been off the road for some 10 years. Just my 2 cents.

The last time I buffed NY it was over in GI. That was about 6 months ago. And I think the JFK hose wagon might still be an ALF Century series, though I think is it going to be replaced or might have already been.

They always said the new one was going to be bigger than LAFD's Boat 2!!

New Haven can wear on-duty style shorts.

This is the only truck that was built by Sutphen with the Mack engine, tranny and emblems. It was refurbished before being sold. I know that for a fact due to the lawsuit filed by Mack against Sutphen for trying to sell it as a Mack Truck, which only the engine and drive train is Mack. They only made this one and never created a second. This was a big hum-to-due back in the early 90's in the truck industry. All the modifications were made when the truck was red still. I had a couple of pictures of it that I'm trying to find and it showed the original, posted here and then after the modification. (Which also had some sheet metal covering up the MACK on the grill) Hopefully I can find them.

Quite frankly for me, as long as the decals are of the American flag only, not defaced with an eagle or anything else ON or FADED ON TOP OF IT is ok. Images surrounding or "protecting" the colors are fine also, but to be technical anything that is "merged" into the flag is actually defacing it, so to speak. I get tired of seeing the flag being depicted as "something to look or make it cool" The Stars and Stripes are cool just by itself. I think it is better to actually have a 5 X 8 flag flown from a truck on a flag hold or such is better than a decal. People have to remember the rules that the country has for the flag and remember its pride. I know a lot of great pictures, ect. have surfaced in recent years and are great renditions. But remember we do have a FLAG CODE out for the stars and stripes. Here is some reading material for all here in the forums, you'll be suprised at the list of what not to do because of pop culture. http://www.legion.org/?section=our_flag http://www.legion.org/?section=our_flag&su...ntent=flag_code

Pretty much so. It's a non-toxic coloring agent. Many marine firefighting units have used it over several years for displays.

Being a "legacy" I have to pipe up. Though my mouth has gotten me in trouble as a youth as well. Growing up in a department where there was no junior / explorer corps I knew more "than tha average bear Boo-Boo." However I know that I didnot know everything, nor would I. 15 years later, her I sit, a past captain norw teaching my younger members how to be. I grab them "by the collar" lik ei was when I shot my mouth off and gave attitude. Me, I was aggressive, wanted to be that "nozzle hog" and so forth. When you are young, you're full of the old "P" and "V" and want to take on the world. ANd if you disagree with me, you are LYING!!!!!!! To the younger members here, listen to the guys / gals who have been there and take your courses to "Find point "A" to lead you to the other points" And for the one who WILL BE THE OLD TIMERS!!!! - directyed the youth in the right way and help them out. Don't sit here and complain and not do anything about it! If you Walk The Walk..... Then Teach the Walk!!!

Make a national standard. You don't have the paper work up to date and signed, you are resucitated untill you are called! There are too many sue-crazed people here in this country!!!! Use your head reguardles what you come across. Call MED control, aks the doctor anbd let him / her make the decision. I have seen the nightmares!

Beleive it or not it won't be a problem unless they are porting at Grand Cayman where you have to shuttle. I was on Jeewl of the Seas which is 2100 passengers and we were off in less than 30 minutes. As for life safety, less than 5 minutes to ot life reporting station. They know what they are doing.

After reading the topic of Brewsters hose reel truck, it got me thinking about Lady Warren Hose 5 from Harvestraw, Rockland County. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't thier Hahn have a hose reel or two on thier truck for 3 inch or 5 inch? I remember a while back they came down for the Milford, CT St. Patrick's Day parade and it was thier truck. Can anyone enlighten me on this? Thanks
