This is right in my back yard, literally. There are a lot of questions, doubt ect. that need to be answered. I know a lot of people, we all hope this is untrue, however there are a lot of questions being raised about this allegation right now. One red flag is the accuser waited two, three days according to the NH Register article in today's edition, nor said anything in the ER about it.Of course I'm not saying that if true she didn't do the right thing, there is the embarrassment factor as well as the anguish suffered with the alleged assault. Everything has to be looked at carefully by the investigators. Also the medic is well known and very good at his profession. I pray this isn't true and EVERYTHING was documented on the run form what was being done for treatment.

The recommend that in CT, but as long as force is justified you will not be penalized. Also in CT you can have any gun on your property, this may have changed recently though. I have to check if the handgun portion was removed and only can own rifles. Not sure if the handgun license if for concealed carry off your property.

A question about the long lay, was their any inline-rely-pumping involved? With a lay that long, your gonna need three to four pumpers inline (source, inline pumps and scene) to keep the pressure up. Even with the marvel of 5 inch hose, you are still dealing with friction loss and gravity at that long of a lay. Also the capacity of your source pumper needs to be equal to or greater than those inline also. I would like to hear more.

Big thumbs up!!!!!

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????????? Isn't that what every apparatus operator is taught to do before they are cleared or at least ask the dispatcher where the hydrant is????

Here is the link to the map of districts / departments in Monroe County. http://www.monroecounty.gov/Image/Fire_Districts%202008.pdf For those who don't know, West Brighton Fire District boarders the southern portion of Rochester.

Totally forgot about this one!!! I never forget the night listening to the scanner and this came over, nearly fell out of my chair!!!

Very sad, no words can describe. One gentleman that I recently went to FO-1 class with works out of Engine 4, I do not know if he was on shift. My thoughts to the family and the brother and sisters of SFRD. http://www.stamfordadvocate.com/local/article/Chief-Grandfather-died-trying-to-save-girls-2426661.php It appears that the cause of the fire were hot embers improperly disposed of. Stamford just had a press conference http://www.wtnh.com/dpp/news/fairfield_cty/shippan-ave-stamford-fire-cause.

Hart Island is the largest municipal funded "Potter's Field" correct?

Thanks Jack, that is the one I was referring too. There is also another one taken during the daylight also.

There is a picture either on this forum or on the net somewhere showing one of these wind generators emitting electrical arcs to the ground while burning. Cut the power to it from a safe distance and let it burn, protect any exposures.

A very good question to answer indeed! If we all take our basic classes about friction loss, well with all the curves in the plumbing, I would say no. The only way to effectively find out is to draft from one side of the pump and take our readings and then draft utilizing both main intakes of the pump (no front suction of course) and see what we get. I would love to try to pump one of these rigs during a drill just to see what we could produce.
-
The only thing is that I haven't seen a pump on a PUC over 1500 gpm.

You all should read this as this is definitely one of those three letter phrases you'll be saying just by reading the title. SORRY IF YOU ARE NOT A CITIZEN, YOU CAN'T VOTE, NO MATTER WHICH WAY YOU LOOK AT IT!!! http://www.nhregister.com/articles/2011/12/13/news/doc4ee7e6aaf16b3231712012.txt And here is everything else related to it. http://nhregister.com/articles/2011/12/15/news/new_haven/doc4ee95260de606724441302.txt http://nhregister.com/articles/2011/12/15/news/new_haven/doc4ee95acdcdcfb359014721.txt http://nhregister.com/articles/2011/12/15/news/new_haven/doc4eea330154998126220386.txt But it might be one way to get those pesky fire commissioners out of office in NY!!! (Just joking folks!)

New Haven has not yet but it is in the plans and on the books. I'll keep you updated if and when it happens. The disbanding of the engine company is to re-organize three BLS medical units that were disbanded in early 2000. When re-organized they will become ALS units. The fire service has and will have to continue to adapt to provide the best services, but at what cost?
-
Willie, you are correct with what New Haven is doing with Engine 8 to re-organize the three disbanded emergency units. ( And I still owe you that coffee!!)
-
For those who don't know Danbury, Engine 21 runs out of HQ with Engine 22 and Truck 1. So maybe in their infinite wisdom, since the firehouse has two engine companies located in it, its okay to do. List of cities who had two engine companies located in the same house New Haven - Engine 11 & Engine 1 (disbanded), Engine 4 & Engine 2 (disbanded), Engine 6 and Engine 3 (disbanded), Engine 10 and Engine 7 (disbanded to create another company that is also disbanded), ENgine 8 and Engine 14 (disbanded). Bridgeport - Engine 1 & Engine 5 (recently disbanded), and not counting the engine and hose wagon combinations they ran Hartford - I forget howmany dual engine hoses there were but there were a few. Seems like a trend to closes duplicate staffed companies is still a trend for the paid service!

Just to let you know, the liberals are even up in arms about this over here. Gov Malloy is totally against this idea, but he hates DiStefano anyway. I know my mayor is like _ _ _ ?!?!?!?!?! If any one of the legislatures in this state even think about supporting this, they have to be drinking that kool-aid.

We also have a fairly lengthy S.O.G. for our uniform standards covering Class A, B C & D standards as well as what our turnout gear shall consist of. Grooming standards are included in this as well including hair length, shaving, side burn length, earnings (none for men, women can wear one set of studs) and other jewelry.

Looks are deceiving. The length of Squad 2 is 4 inches longer that the current Squad 1, which is one of the last Lance cabs. Wheel base is about the same and is not that bad, because of the pump compartment and longer cab, the wheelbase actually looks longer in the picture. In person its proportional.

Hey, I'm a liberal but I too would have liberally applied the pepper spray on the protesters like the police did. I'm sorry technically that campus is private property and the police had every right with their actions. The PD gave fair warning befor their actions. But it goes to show once again the media will show only part of a story to make headlines and not report the truth!!
