Met a few old firefighters that were not rusted .One was HOWARD PEIFFER from MOHEGAN FIRE DIST.RET. He was on the job when I started in PORT CHESTER. I would listen to him go out calls for miles and miles before he would get on location. I don't think they make them like that anymore! A few more photos later.

I just learned that SMOKE II the 1958 fire boat was removed from service after 50 great years of service to the FDNY and the people of the city of NEW YORK on july 15. What SHOCKS me is it going to be sunk as a reef off of NEW JERSEY. This boat played a important part on 9/11 and rescued many including the chief of the marine divison. This boat deserves a better fate then that, like maybe next to INTREPED when she returns. :angry:

MOUNT VERNON is not alone, I once but a bid in on patrol 4 from PORT CHESTER you know [little MOUNT VERNON] and it was awarded to a lower bidder who had put a new motor in it earler.
