At 2149 hrs on Chirstmas Eve 1990 20 years ago I was working Engine 58 when a man called HQ to report smoke coming from his 3rd floor apt closet. The 3 story 20 family over stores building was right around the corner from Fire Hq. With no smoke showing on arrval it looked like it was false call. Within 30 sec I called for a box alarm then 30 sec later a 2nd alarm! Two hours into the fire with 78 people evacuated we went to a fifth alarm with Harrison Eng 11 being the 10th engine on the scene with a portable deck gun on the roof of Fire Hq. It was a long cold nite! Over 200 firefighters 15 pics of fire apparatus and 17 hours we went home to open our gifts with our familys

Because of my time in I dont have to work Christmas anymore Thank god for seniority! Over the years I have burnt down a lot of s**** on Christimas eve and or into Chirstmas day, for those of you that are working stay safe and have a Merry Christmas and for rest you enjoy the time off with your family !

How about Mutual Aid New York State !!! A lot of departments right here in New York need help !! Many small departments in upstate don't have the money to buy gear or rigs so why are we giving good gear and rigs to people who don't give a f*** about us! Sorry for the rant
