Grasslands FD has an engine and a truck as well as housing for the County Haz-Mat team and the Field Com. Unit. Engine 7 is an International i believe, not sure what year. Ladder 7 is an HME/Smeal 105' similar to Yonkers ladder 72 and 73.

By the state standards you are interior certified. However, it is up to your individual department to determine interior status. For example, I took this class the past 2 weeks but my department, Hartsdale, requires us to take Firefighter Survival in order to be interior certified.

On behalf of the class I would like to thank Jim and Tom for their dedication to training us in beginning our fire careers. We would also like to thank the other instructors from New Rochelle, Greenville, and White Plains for helping them out in achieving this goal. Over this two week period we learned alot and bonded as a group of brothers/sisters. Thanks again and I'm sure we will see you again in other classes throughout our fire careers. You could try the Westchester County Center. Not that big though, can't fit a large number of apparatus inside, but if during the spring or summer months you can have it indoors for vendors and have the apparatus outdoors in the back parking lot. Not sure if this is the type of event you had in mind???

I'm currently a student at Hofstra University in Hempstead. However, the University is in Uniondale's fire District as the firehouse is literally on campus, being just outside the back gate. Last night there was a call in one of the buildings and I don't believe Uniondale, mind you less than 30 secs. away even got a truck out. All that I saw were from Hempstead. You also hear the horns go off several times waiting for enough manpower to roll the rig. Something needs to be figured out whether it be going partially paid or something because something serious will happen one day due to long response time.

In Hartsdale volunteers go to all calls that are sounded, (unsounded are EMS for example.) As for Mutual Aid, all volunteers report to the station and only interior firefighters are allowed to go mutual aid. Exterior will ride the truck in district only.
