To initate patient care. Many areas are covered by commercial ambulances who may or may not be responding from the immediate area....and sometimes not responding at all...the other areas are served by volunteer ambulances who may never even get off of the floor... Potential fluid spills/leaks... Scene safety; aka the big red road block.... There are plenty of reasons.

I contacted DC911 direct asking them to call ANY available Police Officer to respond...we needed alot, and fast..they had the tones out before I was EVEN DONE TALKING! Awesome work... I honestly dont think you can compare a fire, even a large fire, with Police Officers whose LIVES are in immediate danger...The urgency is an infinate amount more than any structure...

PLEASE tell me he worked "QTIP" into the article!? The members of the YFD are a great resource! I used to really enjoy articles by YFD's Doug Leibacher, who if I recall, was a Captain on 3 Engine...I ran into him a few times on EMS calls...enjoyed talking to him.
