It goes beyond the layoffs though, they want a CITY fire department to run with ONE engine and ONE truck! CRIMINAL!

It's not "threatening to not respond" - it is the Chief's of Beacon's mutual aid companies telling Beacon's officials that they have a hard enough time covering their own alarms, and can not guarentee they will be able to get off the floor for mutual aid runs....let them know how much this plan will tax their apparatus, members, and Officers....

Chief - I have made reference to that very thing on a member's Facebook...in my eyes - it is the "right" thing to do. The problem I foresee, and Southern Dutchess guys DON'T HANG ME..I will be the FIRST to say I am not very familair with the inner workings down there...BUT; How hard is it going to be to do that - refuse to respond to FIRES, when we all wanna "catch a job"? s***...it's no secret fires are down, and now they have the chance to be second and third due....food for though.

True...it is unihabitable, but alarge portion of the "structure" is still standing and intact...Most trailer fires reult in an update over the radio of "on the ground"...... Also keep in mind this is a rural area of a volunteer district, mid-morning on a weekday. Pretty much what it is......whioch is also one of the dangers associated with interior attacks in trailers...the metal can collapse, trapping members under one large sheet...

Saw the smoke.....had the baby, the trailer, and the quad....NO WAY was I going down that road and have to BACK OUT! LOL! Excellent stop!

Some of the thing you mentioned above Sir, are what, in my mind, absolutely MADE the fire service! I personally am/was sad to see alot of those fall by the wayside...especially fire alarm boxes in my area, Fireball gloves (they were THE best ! LOL!), rubber coats and 3/4 boots... And I will still to this day take my old (yet perfectly OSHA compliant ), battered and somewhat uniquely shaped leather lid over that funky swooped, high riding, cookie cutter helmet they are selling today! Maybe I was born 20 years too late, but to me...that is the romance of the fire service.
