  1. Where's the middle part!?
  2. Pretty good artlcle saying they had at least one suspect detained.. Interesting that the City Council was in the process of drafting a warning letter to the owners about trespassers when the fire broke out... http://www.wgrz.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=76694
  3. Ahhh....yes - now I know...I pass them everyday! LOL... I saw the flare pattern in the roadway this morning.....
  4. Lunchbox - are these the apartments accross from Dum Dum's parents house?
  5. Well...yes and no... You see, ALOT of people, both career and volunteer put ALOT of stock in EXPERIENCE...the guys who have "been there, done that" are a huge assett to those of us who haven't. Executing a self rescue under heavy fire conditions is not something alot of us have done...nor want to do...so when someone comes on here saying they have done so - we look at it as an opportunity to pick your brain, get the details, and LEARN from you... Misrepresenting yourself and your situation is just bad business and ruins your reputation...which is one of the few things we can control in today's fire service.
  6. Let's just say that your definition is going to differ from the majority here... ....and it's Sir...not Senor....but my name is Dan
  7. Jesus Christ - they have better staffing on an ambulance than most career departments in this area have on engines or trucks! Does this rig function/respond as an engine or a ladder?
  8. The wording makes it seem like it was the PO's fault that these bags of turds were hurt... NO...it was THEIR decision to try and outrun the cops...it was thier decision to not pull over after they took off....it was their decision to put themselves AND the PO's in harm's way... Look at it this way - would you not want a cop to do anything he could to disarm a perp with a gun, knife, or other weapon? In these cases - the perp is USING THE CAR AS A WEAPON....I say GET HIM BOYS!!!!! Also - keep in mind that the term "high speed pursuit" is not exactly correct - the majority of the pursuits I have worked (on radio of course) have been fairly low speed.. And personally I think it's a damn shame PO's arent allowed (in most departments) to chase idiots on crotch rockets....those bastards know the cops won;t chase them and act even stupider...on second thought, maybe they shouldn't chase them....they should just shoot.
  9. That would explain why no pictures of fire trucks accompanied the artcile... So - there was NO Fire Department on scene at all?
  10. Pretty effective way to end the situation.
  11. How many of you armchair quarterbacks who cry "excessive" have actually been in that Officer's shoes?
  12. Just equipping your members with a rope is NOT enough! There needs to be intense and frequent training on deploying your system of choice, including under simulated duress, zero visibility, etc. Unforutnately, NOTHING can replace or aid in getting experience in fire buildings, reading smoke/fire conditions, keeping a cool head, and knowing when yo actually deploy a bail out system. IT SHOULD BE AN EYE OPENER AND SCARE THE s*** OUT OF US THAT VERY EXPERIENCE GUYS FROM TWO OF THE NATIONS BUSIEST AND WELL TRAINED DEPARTMENTS HAS MEBERS KILLED AND SERIOUSLY HURT IN THESE SITUATIONS!
  13. If that is the driver dressed in the Realtree camo.........well...that speaks for itself! Signed, Your Freindly Neighborhood Mossy Oak Pro
  14. There is a big difference between transporting ALS and the Medic riding in the back.....(as you both know no doubt) It was either a "Dog and Pony Show" or another sign of EMS being too protocol driven and not allowing us (you or them actually...my card is expired!) to actually treat THE PATIeNt!
  15. Actually...to photographers; it IS a big deal.... ALOT goes into getting a good shot at an emergency scene....to "swipe it" and not give credit is shitty.
  16. Shoot....you're showing you're age Nate....TOO YOUNG! Back in the day.....PFD had to clear from a fire to take in the next fire...
  17. Looks fairly compact, no?
  18. Let me play devil's advocate so to speak, or at least show my situation.... Let's say, it is a typical weekday and I am either off, or on night tour...which means I am home during the day with my two year old daughter...my wife is at work, and my son is at school.. My department gets dispatched for "smoke in a building"......I am NOT taking my daughter to a fire call...not a possibility. Now let's say a unit gets on scene and reports a working fire...NOW I'm gonna call my wife and see if I can drop my daughter off so I can go to the fire... Perfect system? Hell no....but does it get a "interior firefighter" to the scene? Yep.......eventually...
  19. Wow....I wasnt there, but remember hearing about it.... I see one weasly, little, POS in those pics....LOL
