Another option, and well recieved by the likes of Camden Rescue 1 is; http://www.petrogen.com/ If you follow Gabe's blog http://cmdfd.blogspot.com/ there is some good info on it there, about Petrogen torches and firefighting in gemeral. Sometimes he mentions Ed..Ed is a people person.

When x307 called me today to let me know I was shocked and heartbroken! Bobby was one helluva guy! Words alone can not state just how good of a guy he was...and I cherish every second I knew the man. I hope his child know just how great a man his father was! RIP Donkeyboy....taken too soon... Bish...shoot me a PM pal...been too long Brother..we need to talk.

It has taken far too long to do so already!

Definitly not looking for sympathy Marc...it was stupid. I was following the advice of guys that had walked that road before, but take the responsibility myself. I didnt know better, but should have for sure...however, it happens everyday still. Someday I will write a book on Civil Service mistakes...done enough of them to keep me in the dispatcher chair and not on a fire truck...not that I mind, it mkes a decent living for my family, but it is not where I pictured myself 20 years ago. Stay safe Bro...I have my eyes on that Lynn lid too..

Indeed it is...after my Seymour Street cover was blown I was told, "Hey, thanks for the donation"...LOL

A little bit of knowledge can indeed be a very dangerous thing!

You're just lucky I guess.

Please...Rant on. Those of us with a little command experience truly take the words of veteran fire officers to heart, and I know I for one file them for future use. Everyday, we can pick up on stuff not taught in today's books if we look for it
-
Also what I was getting at...FWIW.

Congrats Ohio!

No matter what fancy new fangled terms you use and all the classroom classes in the world doesn't change the simple fact...at your everyday fire incidents..that there should be a Chief or qualified Officer leading the operation..and well qualified Junior Officers taking his orders and letting thier firemen take the actions.. The well trained Officer in charge should be positioned in such a fashion where he can observe 2 sides of the incident..fancy SUV with multiple blinky lights optional.

LOL!

I also disagree with the CP being "remote" from the scene...it doesn't have to be in a position where the staff is "in the way" per se, but certainly close enough to have a visual of two sides of the incident. Frequent full 360's should be done as well to keep an acurate check on conditions.

Hahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! I read that and see; In the volunteer sector, vote for your buddy, even if he isn't the best choice for the position.

Like Urban Firefighter format?

Hey Billy - remember that arrest you, me, and buck did many moons ago off of CPA, in the 2nd Precint...old guy was shovelling snow..he was outside laying in the street when we got there.. I remember you walking down the block and picking up a huge peice of carboard from someone's dumpster...then laying it down on the ground before you belly flopped to drop the tube...Buck glared at you...and you replied, " What? No proper medic gets dirty on the first call of the day!" Those were the days......

They did a name change it seems... to "Mobile Life"! At leats that what it sounds like on the radio! LOL

On a side note, although somewhat related - my pet peeve - one of them at least - is when a responding Chief over rides a Junior Officer who is on scene, and makes a request. Jr Officer; "Captain 1 to Dispatch - I need a mutual aid ladder truck to the scene" Responding Chief; WEEWOOO WEEE WOOO WWWWOOOOOO (siren) "Stand by on that ladder truck, I will be on scene in a few minutes, I will determine if it is really needed" Jr. Officer; "Sonuva................."

When I was a Lieutenant, I was the IC for several "major" calls, including several structure fires and a fatal MVA with pin involving a NYSP car...In all incidents but one, there were two Chiefs on scene, the CHIEF and the Deputy..the first few, the Chief sttod next to me to make sure I was doing the right stuff...but once I proved myself as an adequate IC, they started coming on scene and taking an operations role and in one case, the initial attack team..THAT experience and trust really helped me to become a stronger Officer and I am forever grateful for it. So in my eyes, no, a chief, even though they may be on scene, does not have to be the IC
