Thats it! I remember seeing pics in the Journal News back in the day with him in a car with his MD turnouts on...very cool.
-
Wasnt there an MD who responded to bad wrecks up in the Peekskill area in the 90's and early 2000's, hell, maybe still does?

Great catch Lieu! Thanks for sharing...never would have realized it myself.

Oh...and as ALWAYS....I was late to the party. I was at work...which seems to be a recurring theme..for the last 5 fires at home...and the last 3 fires at work..I was home.

First off - these pics pretty much suck as they were taken with my cell phone that I hate more than anything on earth, plus I was pretty busy. JHK (Dover FD) was dispatched for a house fire yesterday around 1700ish. Additional calls reported a subject with injuries, poss burns. First due crews stretched to the finished section of a raised ranch basement and quickly knocked down the fire, containing it to a very packed room. The resident was removed via ambulance to a landing zone and flown out with severe 3rd degree burns from the waist down. Mutual Aid was provided at the scene by Pawling, Wassaic, and Union Vale. Amenia stood by in Dover 1. Standby Companies also responded to and handled an active chimney fire with Dover's ladder. Later in the evening, while we were still at the house fire, we were dispatched for a rollover accident on Rt 343 (basically 100 yards from my house...of course). Mutual aid stand by companies responded along with our rescue engine to find a nice Mustang upside down in the roadway with one male with severe head injuries. A medevac was requested as well, and the patient also flown out. Dover and Millbrook remained on scene for traffic control for some time after. It was no doubt, a very hectic night in the Harlem Valley, with serious incidents handled well by all responding companies. Good work Gentlemen.

Dutchess hasnt always been so awesome...when I started in 1990, it was pretty plain..with not a whole lot to offer in terms of interesting, complex, or technical training. Over the past two decades we have been very blessed to have the people who were involved in making it what it is now. It took many years and a ton of sweat and hard work..and I can tell you - those of us that use it - APPRECIATE IT.

And it isnt just Facebook - you can get jammed up bad on other sites...like...THIS one!

I say yes...case in point - we responded to a kitchen fire - fire on the stove, got into the cabinet above, held with a can, then knocked down with a line...heavy smoke throughout (very greasy Indian meal)...I went in with a hook and the TIC..checked the walls - plaster and lathe..I had ONE bay that was significantly lighter than the rest with a very small hole in the wall...I wanted to open it up but was told no.."plaster and lathe...it holds the heat longer!" no kidding...thanks...that was one case that sticks out that I REALLY wanted to have my eyes on the proof..not the TOC's... Funny story about reflections...my very good freind and cousin were the line at a fire in a bar...they made entry...saw the glow and proceeded to open the line up...after a while they realized the glow wasnt darkening down and it was getting hotter behind them...they soun around and found heavy fore from the kitchen area which they knocked down quickly...the first glow they saw was the REFLECTION of the fire in the mirrored wall behind the bar! The TIC is a good tool to do an area search at night with at MVA's where you cant find the driver or occupants! Here is a link to a fire a few years ago where I feel, taking a few seconds to do a quick look with a TIC saved myself and another fireman.. http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php/topic/29783-millbrooks-structure-fire-fatal-11709/page__p__167209__hl__millbrook__fromsearch__1#entry167209

Did they get a second piece to keep up with call volume? Is the first piece used so often they needed it or was it just a "grant - use it or lose so we have to get it" deal?
-
I TRY not to post about work...and certainly would never* badmouth the Job...however, lately I have a streak of "luck" where if I am off, we have a fire at work...and if I am at work, we have a fire at home..like RIGHT THIS VERY FRICKIN' SECOND...so i keep posting about that...mostly tounge in cheek... But there are MANY on my friends list that post WAYYYYYY too much about work shenanigans.. (* never say never, I know!)

When I win the lottery, not only will our home have one or two of these tanks, but also an engine with 3 career men on premise!

I know the FDNY and FDMV have a VS, does Yonkers or NewRo?

How, or why, in this day and age are they still allowed to have such a group. Emerald Societies are a different animal - they really have no "political" pull....they exist to CELEBRATE heritage...not rally against others!
