  1. It had nothing to do with the FDNY Dispatchers. The problem lies in the call takers.
  2. Speaking of misconceptions. It is not uncommon to see such animals out in daylight hours. They are slaves to their stomachs, and luckily for them, in the Hudson Valley area, there is no shortage of food, and they have to look no further than garbage cans and dumpsters. Merely seeing a raccon, or possum, or other vermin out during the day is not cause for concern or to contact the police (or ACO), unless they are exhibiting signs of sickness. And I apologize that you took my post to heart JJB...it was not an insult to LEO's at all...but it is obvious you are hyper-sensitize to what you perceive to be "cop bashing". I think I have a proven track record in life, and here on Bravo, as just the opposite.
  3. Wow...that totally sucks for you guys...but I guess it lightens up the day sometimes..
  4. Outstanding pictures! Thanks for sharing... but of course, i have a few comments; Dude on the trike should be wearing a helmet - if for no other reason than public education. He has now said, look at me, I am a firefighter, I am above the law and do not need to wear a saftey helmet. White Plains Fire girls - SKINNY JEANS WERE NEVER INTENDED TO BE PART OF A FIRE DEPARTMENT, OR FD SOCIAL DEPARTMENT, UNIFORM...IT IS NOT OK TO WEAR THEM AS SUCH...EVER....NEVER EVER. PERIOD. And, lastly - the guys on top of the engine are jackasses. So is their Chief, and every officer of their department present.
  5. Really? ESU cops for a "possible" sick animal? Thats a call for the greenest of rookie Animal Control Officers.....was it perhaps "just around the corner" when the ACO was called or something?
  6. Haha...I saw it IFO Red Oaks Mill.
  7. Thanks....yeah, this was the first time I had ever seen them in person...a rickety old Tahoe lit up, leading a few Caddi's and the hearse...
  8. Sorry - STRICTLY out of curiosity...should have clarified...
  9. Today while driving, I rounded a corner and saw an SUV in the oncoming lane, with mini strobe bar light, grille LED lights, and headlight strobes....being a huge supporter of the Move Over law, I immediatly pulled to the shoulder fo the road and slowed down...then I realized the lights were all PURPLE...which i have seen on whoopie light buff sites for funeral purposes...sure enough - a small funeral procession. But it is legal for a funeral company to operate a vehicle on public roadways with these lights?
  10. All it takes is one buff from RI to solve all of Westchester's problems.....
  11. EXCELLENT S - thanks!
  12. Thank God he was in a state with some common sense...had it been NY...he'd be screwed I am afraid!
  13. So this poor guy plummeted to his death with an uncon instructor strapped to his back? Did the chute even deploy? How horrifying.
  14. Jeez....who would have thought? YEARS ago, when a storage facility was being built locally, I asked to buy a few new saws with metal blades, a duck bill lock breaker, peircing nozzles, and a few other goodies that would prove to be useful in these types of fires I was told, "metal containers don't burn!"
