I see x635 was in the area and took a pic of this local attraction. Too bad I didnt know Seth - I live not far from there, in fact my Wife works across the street..... Interesting note about this location. It was at one time, and very well may still be, Dutchess County's largest first alarm assignment for possible fires. A few years back, there was a small fire on the stage of the theater, with several other small spot fires throughout the immediate area of the building. I was driving home from an overnight at Alamo. The tones started on Route 44, for those familiar, when I was in front of the Arlington Diner/Purple Parlor , and stopped when I was passing Freindly Honda. I immediatly knew where the fire was. I seem to recall after that changing it a bit so Millbrook was dispatched first, to get the equipment started, then a second dispactch for the numerous mutual aid companies, a sort of split first alarm. In any event - when the Big One comes, it will be some show. There is another huge 4 or 6 story abandoned building connected to the main building on the right side of that picture. It is more modern. And next time your up Seth, try to get some shots of Millbrook's rescue truck. It has what I think is the nicest 9/11 mural I've seen. The truck is pretty kick a** too.

First pole I ever slid was in Pelham...working for Empress. I just sat on the floor and hopped and dropped the first time. After that I was fine. Speaking of fire poles in Pelham.....I was working with my favorite old partner, more of a freind than a partner, nicest guy in the world, Paramedic, Somers vollie, and all around BUFF. Pelham had an alarm, and we had to move our bus to let their "rescue" out....so Billy takes the pole.... ....and proceeds to land ON their Deputy Chief, who was trying to get to the engine! They both go flying to the ground.... NO ONE got hurt......just flustered....the DC didnt care, he was just frikking happy to be going to a call and riding on the peice.... I was laughing so hard I could not drive.

Obviously City Fire....maybe even the shift commander from what I hear.... The police specialty units - Community Policing, I think Traffic..... The City 911 center is in the Police HQ in City Hall. I should clarify about the sore subject part - sure, we all would love to have moved to the new building, into a room with oh...maybe some windows and decent air quality - but tactically, it would be difficult. So many snap decisions are made with the police Watch Commander, who sits right outside the center during the tour..... But I still think a top floor office with pnaoramic windows would have been the ticket!
-
The City 911 Center will NOT be moving to this building.... Sore subject for sure.
-
Good Job...wish I took it while I could have....
-
Oh...I'm sure you'll hear it a few more times.........

Historically, Engine 3 is the ID for the reserve engine in the City. It is manned during fires or other significant events by callback and operates under the moniker of Engine 3. It is also used when a front line engine (or even a truck on rare occasions) is at DPW's, where it assumes the ID of the unit it is replacing. VERY sad to see the change from E4 to E3......just not gonnna roll off the tounge like it does now.

Wonder how many lightbulbs went on after they read that!?

Well...I was hoping Seth could give me some insight, but he's a busy man... I booked a flight on JetBlue out of Westchester for July.... Anyone flown from there? How is it? I have flown twice......in my life. NOT a big fan of it, but after driving in a Crown Vic with 3 women to Daytona - I'll risk the flight!
