  1. To watch the smile on my son's face when he sees all of his presents! He knows this is his last Christmas to be the star of the show, as next year he will be sharing the spotlight with a little sister!
  2. Happy birthday to a great man!
  3. Last week during the big snow - I dispatched an MVA in E1's first due that MLSS rolled up on, but were not dispatched to. Maybe it was that?
  4. Alot of US, used to work there too.... The only thing that changes are the faces.......

  7. Yeah.......I was busting Casper's stones - hence why I quoted him.
  8. And the patient care in the area is exceptional! Weasel - what are you thinking? EMS IS indeed PART of the fire service - like it or not....

  11. It's a great site too - very well done and getting better every day!
  12. I was not referring to the Chief mentioned in the article. I do not know him, or her for that matter, so I can not say.......
  13. Fex404 - I see from your profile that you are 23 years old - so I really do not expect you to understand what I am trying to say... but since you seem to be stuck on my comment, let me try. Be leary...YES! Be leary! If you walk up to a house "goin' good" and your EXPERIENCE tells you this will be an exterior attack first - but the young "aggressive" Chief yells to you - "Let's get this one by the balls!" Sorry, Chief...not so much! We'll be out here with our deck guns and ladder pipes waiting for it's balls to float out the second floor window. There is nothing wrong with "being leary" and analyzing a Chief's orders to ensure YOUR SAFETY. That's where experience comes into play - with a "true" Chief - there will be no need to analyze his orders - you would follow him into Hell. As mentioned - there is much more to being a Chief than fire experience, although that is probably the most dangerous... Yes - one can get the required training at a young age - trust me it is easier then, no family committments, no need to work OT to support that family, no crabby Wive's....etc. And there is nothing wrong with striving to be a young Chief....but do not forget how important it is to be a GOOD CHIEF first. God Bless and Happy Holidays Brother.
  14. Perfect! Be leary of Chiefs under 25........be very leary.
  15. Trust me on this one - don't try to do donuts in the Post 25 parking lot in the snow if you work for Empress.... And if you do.... pinning the accelerator down and both members rocking from outside the back - EVEN with the doors open to run through if it catches traction....is just a bad idea.

  17. My son got me into trains a bit, and while we are FAR from expert model railroaders, we have alot of fun. In fact we recently graduated from GeoTrax to HO models. I started a train table for him in a small corner of my basement, with a 4 x 8 sheet of wood. That grew to another 4 x 8 sheet in an L-shape, with cutouts for him. I bought a mess of stuff at the train show in Poughkeepsie, engines, track, a controller - with sound!, cars, etc...we tacked the track down and so far - so good...large fun. I want to get him more stuff for Christmas, a smaller set to put in the middle of our current layout. I lucked out and found one online, complete with a figure 8 and elevation...pretty cool...not bad for 50 bucks! Here is a pic of the train table, behind my super buff, 5 y/o City of Poughkeepsie Tower Ladder Lieutenant and his Pirate friend.. Any one else have a layout they can share - I am looking for ideas for scenery, etc...NO doubt we will have several buildings on fire in town!
  18. Big E train Show in January
  19. I was a little surprised to see the thread closed as well...it was constructive - no one was busting the kids chops...we all drive a little fast - especially me... In fact I found it quite eye opening from a tactical stand point. I wonder how many out there take a car - remove the factory seat and replace it with an aftermarket racing style, but skimp on the bolts, which susbsequently fail in a collision? I want to add that I am NOT saying I have info that this was the cause of the case mentioned, it was just a thought.
  20. I was going to mention that......didnt he have a racing 5 point harness on the seat as well? It kept him buckled, but he should have used better bolts!
  21. I just got a shipment in today from eBay - made out very well....2 vintage Santa Fe locos...one a dummy to match one we already have....$20 TMD!
  22. Seth - remind me about this! It's not a bad ride and sounds like something we would really like! I go there each year for a World Championship Archery Qualifier so it's easy enough to get too!
