Numerous calls to Poughkeepsie 911 reporting deer or wild turkeys in yards....very common. My favorite...from 7 years ago. A house fire gutted a house on the lower north side of the city...several weeks later a young female called saying she could hear a beeping coming from the house. I sent the fire inspector to check it out and as I suspected, it was a CO alarm with a low battery inside chirping. Several hours later she called back inquiring if we checked it out..I said we did, and it was "a cricket with a tiny little megaphone....." Before I could tell her the real reason, she cherrfully said, "OK..thank you!" and hung up.....

The reader/resident comments posted on the pojonews forums are insane...I really can not belive some people are so.....misinformed.

Heard Millbrook go out for tree and wires down on 343 and Butts Hollow last night after midnight...lost power soon thereafter.... 8 hours later and STILL no power...Cen Hud has 343 shut down with barricades and large trucks... Anyone know the deal? Seems like a pretty big operation for just a tree and wires down??????

Yep...wife just sent me a text/pic of our cable box on.... Lost a bit of food though....and the power was off long enough to drain the back up battery for our alarm system....

I got a kick out of them blaming the management company, the fire department, the cops....but not one mention of the contractors, architects, etc........ And even though I am biased a bit...some of my good freinds and some DAMN good firemen work for AFD, and of course, 2 and 2 OF THE PFD were there too...but it doesnt take a genius to look at the pics and realize they did ONE HELL OF A JOB saving that building....

I'll just avoid Arlington all together.....
