  1. Nahhh......don't sweat it...if you ask me, it did exactly what the author wanted it to; it looked more official than it really is.
  2. Not as much as Andrew will!
  3. It's NOT an article, it is a "opinion", which is a "letter to the editor", but with a picture.... And yes.
  4. Put that in my yard!
  5. Brother, when you weep for me, Remember that it was meant to be. Lay me down and when you leave, Remember I’ll be at your sleeve. In every dark and choking hall, I’ll be there as you slowly crawl. On every roof in driving snow, I’ll hold your coat, and you will know. The house from which I now respond, Is overstaffed with heroes gone. Men who answered one last bell, Did the job and did it well. As firefighters we understand, That death’s card dealt in our hand. A card we hope we never play, But one we hold there anyway. That card is something we ignore, As we crawl across a weakened floor. For we know that we’re the only prayer, For anyone that might be there. So remember as you wipe your tears, The joy I knew throughout the years. As I did the job I loved to do, I pray that thought will see you through.
  6. Sharp as hell!
  7. Dover, Union Vale, Millbrook, NDP, NYSP - All hands garage fire. Quick work by first due truck!
  8. Exactly! I HATE to see people shy away or not do something becauase of what people HERE might say/think.
  9. 100 percent right - BUT...this is not the place to call them out on it. That is for THEIR Chiefs or Officers to do. I was at a fire the other day and a guy was hesitant to take pics because I initially did not have the waist strap on my SCBA done...then I was on a ladder in a garage, with light smoke, but had taken my pack OFF because I wasnt using air, and it was cumbersome for the position I was in - I took it off for my safety, to be more stable on the ladder....BUT...he was afraid of the EMT Bravo Eagle Eyes.... If enough people complain about operations, no matter how insignificant, Officers will start breaking guys ball's about taking pictures at THEIR scenes.
  10. Cause no one else cares. They had a job to do and are doing it.
  11. Ooohhhhh..............how I wish it was!
  12. Mark - by all means use mine - just give photo credit to JHK129.
  13. Sorry so fuzzy...thats bothersome. Yes, the truck was not positioned QUITE right, and pretty far for the effective use of the ladder. It turned out Ok, because we threw a ground ladder in a much better spot, allowing me access to the roof above the fire, however, no cut was needed and the roof was never accessed.
  14. Hahaaaa - Good point Bill! I did manage to get a few pics while taking a breather... This job could have been much worse, but like Mark stated, an aggressive job by the first in line REALLY saved the joint. Had the fire been in the office area of the building, it would have been a different story.
  15. Pretty sure that is in Wassaic's first due. Markmets can confirm. (edit; see - told ya!) Amenia has MANY farms, a supermarket, multiple stores in taxpayer configs, several gas stations, schools, and a very crowded"Main Street" full of old, 3.5 story wood frames, none of which are small. And let me clarify the Foam Boy comment...I know about the "Water Boy", and that fits THAT rig, I just am not feeling Foam Boy moniker. Regardless, I look forward to seeing it.
  16. SHARP looking rig............ but FOAM BOY??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  17. Luckily, the residents of the City of Poughkeepsie, the city mentioned in this thread, have the professional firefighters and officers of "Engines 1, 2, 3, Ladder 1 and Tower Ladder 2" protecting them 24/7/365
  18. The topic of this thread is quite misleading, for it is not the City that wants the volunteers, but a small handful of "wannabe's" that want the City.
  19. and thank YOU Brother, for your time in The Sandbox!
  20. I need to find time to get them scanned in..........
  21. Nice p*** star mustache Mark.
  22. Mark - was that the same place as Appetizers and Tickets - which incidentaly was the scene of a grand multi alarm fire in the 90's!
  23. It is my belief, and from what I have seen from MOST of Dutchess - that an IC should just ask for what they require, a generic request- ie; "Give me 2 additonal engines and a ladder.........". From there on - it should be the responsibility of the dispatch center to send the closest, appropriate equipment.
