thinktactics started following NYSP Troop T Identifiers
-
Morning! I've been listening in on the Thruway A channel for NYSP Troop T, Zone 1 lately, and most of the 7-series units (which sound like State Police units) identify with four-digit IDs, normally in the format 71xx. However, when I look at Zone 1 vehicles for the blue number under the right headlight, they don't follow this 71xx pattern. Instead, they show 7xx. Can anyone clarify what the vehicle numbers mean, what the radio IDs mean, and how (if at all) they are related? Cheers.

thinktactics started following Town of Greenburgh Interoperability Radio Channel
-
In 2007, an RFP was presented by the Town of Greenburgh to set up a police interoperability radio channel for use between the seven police departments (six village PDs and the town PD). The channel, known as INTEROP, was licensed by the Village of Dobbs Ferry. Does anyone know if this channel is still in active use between the police agencies in Greenburgh today? If so, what is its use?

I stand corrected from what I said earlier - it seems the feed for Rivertowns Fire/EMS may not be affected on Broadcastify. Heard 60-Control page Harrison EMS/FD loud and clear a couple of minutes ago. Also hearing what sounds like radio tests... "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1." Unsure if this is originating from a 60-Control frequency or a local one.

Thanks! For F3 - what exactly is the "MARS" radio? I looked up the acronym but only got a reference to a type of military radio. For the Hotline - it's like a regular telephone but you can talk to every department at once? Also, do the Westchester PDs' assigned station numbers (ex. Ardsley is Station 25) play into it somehow?
-
Is this limited to just the PD dispatch centers, or are the patrol cars commonly equipped with the channel as well too?

Does anyone have information as to what exactly the Westchester County Police Hotline (a.k.a. "F-3") is used for? I've searched for the purpose, but most sources are vague, just saying it's used for some sort of police communications.
-
No kidding! First time I've heard 60 pop off like that. I feel bad for that shift's dispatchers haha.

(If I'm posting in the wrong subforum, please let me know! Didn't want to post within Incident Alert since this is more of a request for info.) Does anyone have information on the incidents that occurred this morning between 0600-0900? 60-Control was fielding radio traffic non-stop for several hours, though it seems to have relaxed as of 1100 hrs. Incidents were multiple MVCs across the county. Many EMS units were transporting to area hospitals and then quickly turning around to respond back to the same scenes/new scenes, and at several points ALS flycars/units were entirely unavailable. Would love to hear more from anyone who responded or knows what exactly went on.
