One of those Yonkers reserves holds the distinction of being the last Mack CF engine produced. God willing I ever win the lottery, I'm coming after that one and Croton's beauty, among others.

Last new delivery I saw in my area has gold-leafed lettering on a vinyl sticker of some sort, as opposed to directly on the rig. I guess that makes it easier to correct any problems that may arise.

"Speed 2" didn't have a bus. No, I think that was his consolation prize for losing the starring role in the original....LOL!

Hmmm.....haven't seen that one in a while. Ranks right up there with the Beemer with LDH through the windows (parked next to hydrant, a la "Backdraft").

Yeah, what he said!

Middletown also runs a TDA that is either 100' or 110', depending on source believed. Tallman (Rockland County) has a Pierce tower that says 120 on the bucket. Not sure if that's accurate, or if it's a play on their Rockland County department number, 20. I believe Spring Valley's Metz tower is 100', but you'd never guess it looking at it.

I know there's at least one Tarrytown guy on here, hopefully he (or somebody) can answer a question or two. For Saturday's wetdown, are they planning on displaying Tower Ladder 78 all jacked up with the aerial in the air like about 90% of the other aerial wetdowns I've seen? Or, will it simply be parked "as is"? If it will be all set up, approx. what time will it arrive at the site? I want to make sure I can get there early enough to get some decent pics, since it'll be dark before the event ends. Already missed it twice so far, don't want to have to wait all winter for another chance. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Geez, DD is having issues like these, and Krispy Kreme is allegedly hovering on the brink of bankruptcy......what's next??
-
Well, I'm going to get there as early as I can. If it works out, great. If not, I guess there's always next year.

Just wondering if anyone on here watches WWE wrestling, whether regularly or occasionally. If anyone does, what are your thoughts on the tragic and untimely passing of Eddie Guerrero, and the outstanding tribute edition of "Raw" done in his honor. Rest in peace, Eddie.

By "cushy" I meant that, for the most part, they're only working weekends and TV nights anymore, with the exception of the overseas tours. Regular arena shows during the week are getting fewer and farther between. Not non-existant yet, but not nearly as many as there used to be. And, TV is done weekly.....no more three weeks' worth at a time which could conceivably see a guy having five matches in the same night.

Eddie's wife gave a statement to wwe.com this afternoon. Cause of death was heart failure, with the damage being attributed to his past issues with drugs and alcohol. Yes, it truly is sad how many guys are dying so young, so soon. With all the drugs and painkillers and what not that these guys are getting hooked on, even with the cushy work schedule they have, it really makes me wonder how today's wrestlers would have survived back in the 80's, when both major organizations were running 5-6 nights a week, with double-shots on the weekends (afternoon and evening shows). Granted, the matches weren't nearly as "extreme" back then, but there were that many more of them, and that much more travel, etc. And yes, I agree wholeheartedly.....it truly is remarkable that 56 year old Ric Flair is still going out there and showing up guys half his age. He is "The Man".

I find it a tad difficult to believe the numbers of apparatus (more than FDNY, LAFD, AND LACoFD combined!?!???......even with Chief's vehicles included, I think that may be a stretch) but there's no doubt that there's some serious money tied up in some of those rigs. Nassau County companies are strange. Nearly every one has a "cookie cutter" Pierce engine. Late 80's or very early 90's Lance 10-man cab, flat roof, white over red. The next bay over has something that will blow your mind. Some more than others. I can see the viewpoint of it being a waste of money, but which would be worse, too many rigs, or not enough? As discussed in the other thread, the manpower issue is the same no matter where you look, and will only get worse over time, as long as the cost of living keeps going up. Just my $.02

I wonder who published/printed this one?

Aside from the sliders over the pump panels, it looks just like any other Pierce rescue-pumper I've seen. Much better than those new rear-mount jobs which look like heavy rescues but are actually engines.
-
Fingers crossed hoping for good weather that day. Two beautiful Saturdays in a row.....let's not stop now!
-
Any particular reason why they call it 'Rescue' instead of 'Engine'? There is still a pump panel under that one slider, is there not? Sweet lookin' rig, regardless of what designation it carries. Hopefully I'll get to check it out in person some day.

That second link worked.....but it took a bit to load.

Aww man, don't get me started with Beavis and Butt-head quotes.....I'll end up getting kicked off here!

For some reason, it doesn't seem to be working for me. Just about any other clip on there plays fine, but for the Halloween one, all I get is a blank white box where the movie should be. Anyone else get this result?

Thanks for the info. Let's all pray for some nice Indian Summer weather that weekend!

FYI.....92.7/96.9 WRRV used to be based in Middletown for the longest time. They only relocated to the Poughkeepsie area within the past few years. Personally, I like WPLJ 95.5, and listen to it whenever I'm down that way (read: South of Sloatsburg). It doesn't come in as well up here as it used to, and cuts in and out on the road. Having a "local" station make it's home at 95.7 doesn't help matters much, either. The local outfit plays basically the same kind of music, but it doesn't sound as good, and the people aren't as entertaining.

I heard a couple of years ago that Port Chester was spec'ing out a new tiller to replace the current one. What happened there?

Got a street address or something for the Senior Center (for those not familiar with the area)? Thanks for the other info. Heard today that ASI will be doing their shirts. Man, I can't even BEGIN to imagine how SWEET those are going to be!

No more LA? LOL! I really like the Poughkeepsie rig. Gotta love the basic, "original" style Alcoa wheels.
