I'll be there at least once, possibly twice.
-
Will the Mack be outside during the day's events? If so, maybe I'll stop by there earlier to shoot it and grab a shirt or two, and then come back later on my way home for the rest of the thing.
-
Gettin' your boards mixed up a little? LOL!
-
Nice! Is the Mack still around, despite it's "retirement"? Sure would be nice to get a pic or two, or six, or whatever on that day.
-
That's almost as good as the one in Ann Landers' column a few years back about the lady who sold the Porsche for $50.
-
Wow, a Seagrave and an HME in the same department. That's an odd combination. Sure is a nice rig, though. And, on the subject of Boars Head......did anyone go so far as to make up a Boars Head logo to put over the department's logo on the door, as they did for the first black/red rig here in "The O.C."?
-
Depends on which department you ask. They're no different than any other make. Some love 'em, some hate 'em.

Yeah, and the prices will probably spike immediately, before the effect is even felt, and watch how long it takes them to come back down once the problem is rectified. More "record profits" for the oil companies.....I can see it now.

Congrats to the Arena family. Hopefully all is well with both Mom and the new arrival.

How about some "sexy looking" ASI T-shirts with said sexy looking rig on them? And maybe a reflection of the even sexier Mack in the puddle below? That'd RULE!
-
Happy Birthday! Don't party too hard!
-
That's the one.

Hmmm.....might have to take a detour on the way home from the 6th Battalion parade.
-
In as much as they should have closed the door on the way out, why did this guy leave his wallet just lay around with that much cash in it in the first place?

The only 10-codes Orange County uses is 10-4, as far as fire goes. Middletown and Town of Wallkill police both use 10-codes, but apparently have two different sets. 10-something for one of them doesn't mean the same as what 10-something means to the other. Luckily, neither are on the same frequency. That could be a headache.

That doesn't seem right, that they can "force" you to attend parades, when you'd rather be doing something more constructive, and potentially beneficial to the department and those it serves. Around here, however, there are departments that are lucky if they get more than 3-4 to turn out, even on parade day. Not to change the subject, but wetdowns aren't much different. Very little variety in the lineup of who shows up, and there's no guarantee of the "usual suspects" at times, either. I assume that most departments hold parades in higher regard than wetdowns, but making it "mandatory" and turning non-compliance into an outcast......I don't know.

Don't get "too much" of that up this way. Usually it's the other way around.....there will be a bunch of kids looking for some air horn action, and they end up getting all flustered when they keep getting turned down. Guess they aren't old enough to understand the "no noise" rule. Oh, and you see that dude in the white shirt with the clipboard over there? He's called a judge. He won't like it if the fireman breaks the rules....nor will the firemen like it when their company is passed over for a trophy that it might have otherwise won. I don't personally have a problem with an occasional quick blast of the horn, or a tap of the Q button, but going Code 3 at 5 MPH or less is not necessary.

That is quite the touchy subject up here in this area. This year alone, more than a half-dozen kids have died in wrecks. A carload of them returning from a double-date at 1 AM, when the genius behind the wheel decides to pass five cars at once, on a two-lane road. Car at head of the line made a left in front of him. He hit that car, then a tree. In the days following the incident, the area residents made a huge uproar.......that the state, county, anyone who would listen, should take action to improve the ROAD, since IT killed 13 people in the last decade, many of them teens and young adults. Hmmmmm............. More recently, another carload of kids coming home from an after-school shopping trip. Car careens across the median of I-84 and hits a tractor-trailer almost head on. Three dead, one airlifted to Westchester. All of the victims in both wrecks were either juniors or seniors in high school. Definitely something needs to be done to educate people as to the dangers of reckless driving. Yes, I agree, it's not just the kids, but start when they're young and nip the bad habits in the bud before it's too late.

That is by no means the first "inaccurate" piece Code 3 has put out, and it likely won't be the last. I'm still waiting to find out whether the missing lettering will be added to TL-78 before it's released. Hopefully it will be, but who knows?

New rig looks beautiful! Best of luck with it. Hope to be able to get pics of it some day. You don't know how bad I wish I could give the Mack a new home. But.....lack of money, storage space, and a Class A license don't bode well for my chances. Would be nice to at least see it someplace before it goes, but what with this weather and such......who knows?

Is "The Last Mack" (ex-314, 306, etc.) still around?
-
Let me guess......replacing the '68 Mack?
-
That was a nice old Pierce while it lasted. I hope all of the injured make a full recovery.

Ossining's Maxim is now privately owned. Edit: Oops, didn't realize there was a second page here, and the question had already been answered.
