  1. Here ya go. Not a "straight-on" side shot, but a good pic, nonetheless. (Eli Gill photo) http://www.10-75.net/apparatus/ny/ulstercn...epsiefd/tl2.htm
  2. In case you haven't looked around it further, the main site covers the whole state of Indiana. Looks like a lot of work went into it. Too bad there aren't more sites like that for various other areas of the country.
  3. New Circleville Rescue 105 (Eli Gill photo): http://www.10-75.net/apparatus/ny/orangecn...eville/r105.htm I am "assuming" this was taken at the KME dealer in Albany.
  4. Damn fool! Didn't anyone ever tell you that marriage is punishment for shoplifting in some countries? Seriously....congrats and best of luck to both of you!
  5. That's what I was afraid of. Oh well.....hopefully at least one of 'em will make the trip to Photo Night. Three other things going on that day (6/14), don't know if it'll be possible to get them all.
  6. No contest.....the original "Smokey and the Bandit"
  7. They may very well be Impels. Does not appear to be any chrome bezels around the headlights (tell-tale sign). Still very nice looking rigs. Any idea when the wetdown is? I'm hearing two different dates.....and I hope it's not the second one!
  8. I'll bite for the New Jersey forum. God knows I spend enough weekends there between May and October....LOL!
  9. I'm scratching my head as to the new location. Anybody got the dirt on why? I just hope that it does not discourage the many Bergen County new deliveries from making the trip.
  10. A mile or so (if that) east of the Coliseum on Hempstead Turnpike.
  11. I am in the same boat as the original poster. I got surprised with a "dig" for Christmas. Goes without saying that it wasn't even close to the one I would have wanted. It's a little dinky thing that fits in the palm of my hand. Doesn't even have a viewfinder! Reading the book is confusing enough, but overall, it seems akin to learning how to take pics all over again. I wish it had been, at the very least, a low-end SLR. Then I'd only have to master the digital part. The worst part of it is, the software isn't compatible with this antiquated POS computer. I've got a lead on a hand-me-down PC which should take care of that part (I hope!). Oh well......at least I've got some time to practice and learn before wetdown season starts.
  12. I wanted to go, but unfortunately, did not have enough money to do so. The recently increased tolls wouldn't have helped much, either. See the word "small" in a couple of reviews. I take it the main Coliseum was not utilized again?
  13. What about the company in New Jersey where, late last summer, four guys got suspended for coming back from a wetdown with beer on their breath. One was a driver, one or two were underage, and one was an officer who did nothing to stop it all. They all paid the price for their behavior. I guess some places are just more strict about it than others. It really is a shame. If you can't party responsibly, then either don't, or get yourself some help. Nothing wrong with having a drink or two (as long as you're not driving), but to get smashed every time the chance presents itself is just wrong. THAT is where the anti-parade and anti-wetdown crowds get their ammo. The ones that have to go and ruin it for someone because they can't play by the rules. Has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not the guy is getting a paycheck for being where he is.
  14. WPLJ already plays Rascal Flatts, Carrie Underwood, Tim McGraw/Faith Hill and the occasional Shania Twain (where's she hiding, anyway?) songs.....why not expand the lineup a little more? One of the country stations we do have up here takes great pride in it's claim of "unprecedented variety", yet they play the same 2-3 songs four times a day! Is it possible to wear out a CD? I think they're trying to find out.
  15. My father tells me all the "mischievous" things he and his buddies used to do as kids/teens. Back then, it was just "boys being boys". Today? It'd get you 5-10 behind bars, and maybe sued on top of that! The rest of this thread is definitely stirring up memories of better times. Oh, to have known then what I know now, and if only it were possible to do it all over again.
  16. I know of 2-3 guys who'll be on that auction like white on rice just as soon as they hear about it. Should any of them win it, rest assured the rig will be preserved in excellent shape for as long as they're physically able. Anyone know the location where it will take place?
  17. Sounds like fun. I hope to be there, so long as there's nothing else going on closer to home.
  18. I agree with the poster above, in reference to why people bother to have e-mail and use it as a means of contact if they do not check it and respond on something of a regular basis. Only ONE time, have I ever gotten a response to an e-mail that was sent to a fire company's website.....and the response was a PHONE CALL! They went out of their way to look up my name in the phone book and speak to me directly to ensure that I got their reply message. Imagine that.
  19. I heard some talk last fall about a Bergen County forum possibly being designed, but nothing has come to fruition as of yet.
  20. Good, relatively recent outdoor shot: http://www.fdnytrucks.com/files/html/other...0Collection.htm Next to last pic from bottom of page.
  21. My condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Lt. Martinson. May he rest in peace.
  22. Hello all, I know it's early yet, but I wanted to inform everyone that the Catskill Fire Cats (Catskill Chapter, SPAAMFAA) will once again be hosting an antique fire apparatus show and muster this year. The date will be Sunday, June 8, and the location is the same as last year, the warehouse on Route 302 outside of Middletown. This is the place that was recently featured in Fire Apparatus Journal magazine as the site of a future fire apparatus museum. More details and info will be posted as the event gets closer, but we wanted to get the word out as early as possible in hopes of minimizing the chances of a date conflict with another event (locally, at least). The wheels are already in motion to work out all the little bugs and glitches which marred last year's event, and we are hoping that this year will be even bigger and better than last year.
  23. I plan to be there, weather and finances permitting. Gonna try to take my new digital camera inside and try it out before wetdown season starts.
  24. LTI will use Spartan tractors as well. See Elmont, in Nassau County, for an example: http://www.fdnytrucks.com/files/html/other...ssau/Elmont.htm
  25. Truly a shame to see such a good looking rig meet such a lousy fate, what with so many other departments that could have gotten a few more years out of it, or private collectors who'd love to preserve it and appreciate it for what it is. Could have sworn somebody said it was a CF, though, last time the subject came up.
