As a Reno Air Races Fan I keep in touch with news out there. Here's an item that covers all sides of EMT Bravo, except EMS, though I'm sure they were involved too. I'm not PC literate so I'll just give you the huge address. http://news.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?...EWS10/608230331 Hope it works!

I'm not gonna hit the quote button, but that's the article. Glad that many of you are on the ball with PC procedures. GEEKS are appreciated! What does the EMT Bravo crowd think about the article?

As an Aviation fan and retired firefighter, I was very interested in an article in the July issue of Air & Space Smithsonian magazine. It's called: Thank You For Not Flying. I reccomend it to all fire & rescue personnel, especially the decision makers. I've always thought the people in charge called for the heliocopter too many times too soon. The article seems to show that is true. Consider the author's credentials and forget the part about vollies getting free pizza. I don't think that has to do with our area. I'm sorry I can't give you a link to the story. The mag is online at www.airspacemag.com. I don't think the article is there.

Putting the importance of what we do as firefighters into a rock musical video belittles the job just as most tv shows manage to do. Kentland is a great VFD. Knock off the BS and chest beating. You don't need it!

PinchGut Camp Commander, you probably can answer this mystery. Go for it!

I just noticed another wreck in the NYC reported in the forum. An ESU truck with serious injuries on July3rd. Pray that all involved survive. Surprised to see no mention other than the original item .

The picture shown in the Post, the one on this forum, shows a vehicle in pretty good shape considering it was supposed to have made three complete rolls. NO WAY! Looks like it laid over on the left side and slid. The ladder section hardly moved. How are the FFs doing? Anyone hear?
-
I think the most obvious fact that is proven in this incident is that the NY Post dosen't look for truth in a story, just sensationalism! I drove trucks similar to that one for many years. I wasn't there so I don't know what caused the rollover. But "Steve", you were not there either, were you? Hope everyone involved comes out okay.

Looks good but where's the Scotchlite trim?

OK. The nav. sys. sounds like a good item after hearing the reasons for it.
-
Great looking rig. Stereo and nav. sys.? Lets fight fires. But it is capable when the music is turned off, I hope.
-
Good points Hudson 144, Especially about rigs called O/S for a parade staying O/S. Chiefs should have coverage plans that avoid calling parade rigs in all but worst case incidents.

Mohegan Quad 10. Year 1967

Now that I've said all that would an EMS guy tell me what EMD is exactly? Thanks

PVFD 113, in your post recorded at 9:12pm, May 31st, You say "It is better than what they had which was nothing". Then in the following post , alsfirefighter thinks you're referring to Mohegan FD. Are you? LMFD is far from nothing. Previously you mentioned, "Lets work together". Well, talk like that will not help the situation. Maybe you're just referring to dispatching. If so, say so. 60 Control is an improvement, don't insult the past!
-
To PVFD 113 I've got to agree that having 60 Control dispatch Mohegan VAC is good, but the Career FF's usually toned out the VAC within a minute, not five, and not after the Eng. got on the scene. Also the times that the Amb. responds ahead of, or with the Eng. & Utility are rare! Five plus mins. behind is more like it.
-
Sounds like a good move for LMFD. Good for the VAC, good for the career FF's, and good for business for the Pros at WC Dispatchers' office. It would be nice if it improved response times but I doubt it.

I think I was close enough for an old Burbs' guy. I forgot some units. My apologies. tbendick sounds like the WORD! Thanks. Just knew the EMS guy was uninformed.

Okay. I'm not a firefighter but, doesn't is seem like 140 guys for four handlines is a bit overkill? You'd think with that much manpower there would be more lines going at once. OR am I missing something. 4 lines equals about 24 eng . co. men, plus ladder co.s, doing their search and venting, another 20-25 men, rescue and other special units, another 12 men, plus chiefs and their drivers, plus relief units for eng. and ladder co.s, another 25-30 guys or more. The more alarms put in, the more troops. I'm not FDNY so I suggest you talk to one of them. You're right though, it dosen't take 140 men to run 4 lines. But to do a complete job, it might!

Where did the Pix of T-10's Bad Day go? Glad to hear the crew is ok.

In the mid 60's the engine numbers 134 (1948 Chevy-Boyer), 135 (1941 Mack), and 136 (1954 Oren), were assigned to Lake Mohegan. The 1939 Diamond T rescue's number was Rescue 22. The 250 series nos. came later.
