True emergency is one of the topics discussed in the EVOC course. Respond with caution means a non-emergency response, which means since there is no emergency there will be no lights and siren. In New York State the V&T Law states that only Police can respond with no lights and siren to emergencies.

Wonder what this will do to the new trunked radio system? According to the County's new FCC license WQBR539/WPVA646 this was going to be one of the transmitter sites for the new system.

Last week I drove by a scene in NJ on I-95 between the GWB and I-80. It was mid afternoon, sunny, no rain, minor MVA on the right shoulder. Both the Chief and the Engine had pulled off the right shoulder onto the grass past the scene so that they were actually to the right of the incident. There was nothing impeding the flow of traffic, and all driving lanes were flowing at at least 60MPH. Talk about not covering a scene.

FYI, did some research and found an answer to this question. Unless there is another section I am missing, both the Village Law and the Town Law of New York both state "A person shall not be eligible to volunteer membership in more than one fire company at one time." (Town Law Article 11, 176-b section 10, Village Law Article 10, section 10-1006 section 10). http://www.senate.state.ny.us then click on Bills&Laws, then click on Laws of NY

FYI - Ossining Steamer Co. #1 (not the Village of Ossining) owns the building where Senate and Steamer are located. Independent Hose Co. #6 also owns their building. All other OFD buildings are owned by the Village. Senate H&L is now located at Holla Hose Firehouse on Lafayette Avenue until the new HQ Building on State Street is completed.

The new trunked system is actually a sophisticated repeater system. All apparatus, base stations, and portables will talk to each other through the nearest tower(repeater). Portables and apparatus will also have Fireground freq's. that will bypass the trunked system.
-
If anyone is interested in seeing the RFP(Request for Proposal) for this system I downloaded it from Westchestergov.com before bids were accepted. It describes the whole system from proposed tower locations and frequencies to where mobile installations mobile will be made.

Drove by it about 2 months ago when the shell was still open. LOT of Wood Truss in the second floor and roof!

According to somersvfd.com, E134 was assigned to Somers FD. A picture on the site looks like a '40's ALF. An old County apparatus list I inherited lists E134,135,136 to Mohegan. Can't confirm either.

The front (initial) tones must be the same to activate a certain group of pagers. The following tones are just for notification(alerting the user) and can be any sound.

From the FCC website Sleepy Hollow has a pending application for a repeater link. Location-Ichabod Lane, Tarrytown 478.6125Mhz.
