According to WCDES Battalions Sing Sing Correctional is assigned to Battalion 12.

Can't be 100% sure but it is probably a suction strainer. Also as an FYI, as a former member of Steamer Co. the Company seal on the Drivers side door is different than on the Officers' side door. The Steamer faces forward on both doors, rather than it being the same seal on both sides where it would face forward on one side but the same seal would face toward the rear on the opposite side.

PURPOSE The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit offers from qualified consultants to assist the Town of Greenburgh Police department in accomplishing its mission to establish a town wide, analog, interoperable voice radio communications system for use by the seven police agencies that lie within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Town of Greenburgh in accordance with the Scope of Services listed in this RFP. The system will be analog, operating on an output frequency of 482.575 MHz and an input of 485.575 MHz, which is presently licensed in the Village of Dobbs Ferry. NAMES AND ADDRESSES OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES INVOLVED IN THE PROPOSAL INCLUDING CALL SIGNS AND PRIMARY FREQUENCY Village of Dobbs Ferry Police Department 112 Main Street Dobbs Ferry, New York 10522 WQBV384 - R482.575/485.575 (Digital) If it is going to be an analog system, why are they advertising the use of a license using digital frequencies?

It's good to see FD's looking outside the box and being innovative.

You need to determine what and where you want to monitor. If you are looking to monitor Westchester's new system, it is analog and the BCT 15 will do fine. If you want to listen to Rockland's new system, it will be digital and you will need the 996T. Looking through the FCC's website I see that Mahopac High School has a pending application for a UHF low power trunked system at their site. More information on trunktracking can be found at RadioReference Wiki. Info on scanners can be found at Radio Shack Scanners Wiki and Uniden Scanners Wiki.

AND Why is a Ladder Company's apparatus called a "Truck" when both Ladders and Engines are trucks? AND Why is an Engine Company's apparatus called an "Engine" when both Engines and Ladders have engines? lol

I was at the Stop & Shop Supermarket in North White Plains last week when I noticed in the parking lot both hydrants are preconnected with a LDH Storz coupling. Does anyone know if this was done by the property owner, or is North Castle Water District starting this? I have seen some districts on Long Island where all of the hydrants have this feature.
-
Driving into Westchester County Airport this afternoon, noticed that most (not all) of the hydrants along Airport Road had Storz adapters installed on them.

Another one of my pet peeves. I am constantly amazed at the "well it's the way we've always done it" attitude, rather than doing it the "right" or more efficient way.

Both Companies are getting new rigs.

FDNYTrucks.com has pictures of the Volunteer Company's apparatus. The bottom ten links on this page are the Volunteer Company's. Some of the Companies have websites, just do a search and they should be listed.

Search "Members" at top of the screen type lfd171 and his link is on his profile. I tried inserting the link on this post but for some reason it wasn't taking.

I just tried going on, still not up. Also I can't get on to OnTheJobNY.com or NYCFire.net.

I came across these recently issued licenses for the new system on the FCC's website. They appear to be licenses for some of the base stations in the North Zone of the system. They all are licensed to Westchester County, no individual licenses. According to a Weschester County Apparatus Plate assignment list form 8/11/82, NYS Thruway was assigned plates for Engines 215, 216, 217. Another undated list I have lists only E240 for the NYS Thruway.

At one of the ConEd seminars I attended, if I am not mistaken, I recall the ConEd person saying they have nine of these units. I will try to find out more from one our members who works for ConEd.

Surfing around the FCC's site, found that Westchester County has a pending application for two new frequency pairs for the South Zone. Base freq's. are 470.0250 & 470.2000 with an output of 110 watts. Looks like these might possibly be replacing 470.0750 & 470.1000 which are only licensed for 80, 25 & 60 watts at the three South sites. The remaining South Zone freq's. 476.0750, 476.1125, 476.2125, 476.2375 are already licensed for 110 watt operation.

Was just checking out EBay Motors and found the following: EBay Motors. Looks like bidding ends this Sunday 4/29 at 12:15PM.

Make sure you have it programmed for Motorola. Control Channel only will only work for 800Mhz Systems. I have not picked up anything either. Up until about a week ago I could hear them testing on the system, but that seems to have been completed. I guess they are reviewing the results of the testing to verify the system operates as to design spec's.
