The Lawrence Cedarhurst TL is a Ferrara. Saw it at FerraraFire.com.

Ossining FD total for 2008 - 530. No EMS.
-
Yes, that is the correct way of doing it. I did notice that there is only one Base/Offset/Spacing per bank from your screenshot. You did it right, good listening with it.
-
Don, quick question for you. What do you mean by Bank: North, and two Bank:South's?
-
That is correct. You may want to go to "open" mode temporarily, this will let you hear all TalkGroups on the system. You will hear the BeeLine buses, EMS, Hospitals, and Fire. The more TG's you have "turned on" the sooner you can verify operation. As long as you can hear the Control Channel (470.5750 - North, or 476.2375 - South) you will be able to listen to the system. Don, you're welcome, anytime.
-
Feel free to ask away, we'll get it working.

It looks like you have several issues. To review this thread these are this is the information you need: North Zone - 470.3250, 470.3500, 470.3750, 470.5250, 470.5750 Base - 470.0 Spacing - 12.5 Offset - 380 South Zone - 470.0750, 470.1000, 476.0750, 476.1125, 476.2125, 476.2375 Base 1 - 469.525 Spacing 1 - 12.5 Offset 1 - 380 Base 2 - 475.750 Spacing 2 - 12.5 Offset 2 - 500 The North and South Zones need to be programmed into separate banks. All of the above information needs to be entered in the appropriate bank. Once you have this entered it should work. I noticed from your screenshot you have only the North and South Control Channels entered in the same bank. As mentioned all info for both banks need to be separated in to different banks. The static you are hearing on 470.5750 and 476.2375 is the Control Channel datastream which you will not hear once everything is operating correctly. IMO leave the DEC alone, HEX means the TalkGroup ID will include alpha entries whereas DEC means entries are only numeric. FYI - once you get everything running you may want to go to "closed" mode (to the right of the bank name) and add the Operations and Tac TalkGroups to your TG list.

One of the best sites to find frequency's is the FCC's Site/Frequency page. This page gives you the options of searching frequency by State/County, Licensee name, and radius around a given geographic point. Other information (including pending applications) can be found at the FCC's FCC's General Menu Reports page.

Looking at RadioReference.com, Yonkers PD shares frequencies with Mohegan Lake FD (453.2750MHz) and West Harrison FD (453.9250MHz). Most likely it is Mohegan, as WHFD's repeater is now on 472.2500MHz.

While checking out the Westchester DES Website, I came across a link for Weather Stations in the upper right corner. I clicked on Weather Stations, it came up with weather info from five locations across the County, from Yonkers up to Pound Ridge. It looks like it is updated every five minutes.

From Firehouse.com, the Thornwood FD has been awarded $153,900 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grants round 15. The grant was awarded for the Operations and Safety catagory of the program. Congratulations Thornwood.

Before this topic fades out, just wondering what the County designation will be? Is it a Utility, a Squad Support Unit, a Rescue ?

FYI - If anyone is interested in Fire Apparatus pricing check out these links that I came across: Louisiana.gov - Fire Trucks, Ohio.gov - Ferrara, Ohio.gov - KME, Ohio.gov - Toyne, Louisiana.gov - Ferrara base price, Louisiana.gov - Pierce. Interesting to see actual pricing for base models and all the options prices.

Just wanted to say thank you to RWC130 for a fun night out. It was great to finally meet you and some of the other (both senior and younger) members of EMTBravo. We swaped "war" stories, found we have common acquaintances and generally had a good time. Hope more members take advantage of future get togethers, you won't regret it. Steve

It sure looks like it. Yonkers L68 ('89 Seagrave) is also listed at EBay Motors Fire Trucks.

Is this class still on, and what time is it?

Went to check out if anything new was on the DES site and found it had been COMPLETELY redesigned. Check it out at Westchester County DES. For navigating around the site click on the links in the upper right corner of each page. It took me a while to find where things were but it looks like everything is still there.

I attended this seminar last week and it was interesting. One thing that I came away from this seminar with is that lightweight wood I-Beams are much more dangerous than wood trusses. Lt. Kirsch showed a video of a test burn he did with wood I-Beams. He set up three lengths of wood I-Beams (approximately ten feet long, and spaced sixteen inches apart) on cinder blocks with a piece of plywood on top of them. He then started a fire under the center I-Beam with scrap wood. As the fire grew and the I-Beam started to burn up the web (the vertical portion) of the I-Beam the fire started to roll between the two lengths. The rolling advanced to a vortex similar to a fire tornado. As this happened, this vortex advanced rapidly along the full length of the beam. At eight minutes the web had completely burned through. At nine minutes a full collpase of this I-Beam occurred. Sounding the floor for weakness may not give warning of this web burn-through. Overall an interesting seminar. One of the questions on the FASNY evaluation sheet asked where you found out about the seminar. I wrote in where I found out about it - EMTBravo.com.

I agree. The problem, the way I see it, is that too many apparatus are designed to serve too many functions. As has been stated in other threads on this site, there is in my opinion, alot of duplication of equipment in Westchester Departments. It amounts to the argument that how many Cascade Systems or Jaws of Life tools or Tower Ladders are needed? Does every piece of apparatus need every piece of equipment? I know there is equipment/devices on apparatus that will be used a minimal amount of times during the apparatus' lifetime because other apparatus that respond on the initial assignment also have this same equipment on their apparatus. I am not against apparatus being designed with what they need for their primary function, but does every apparatus need every piece of equipment/device that is available within that Department or it's close M/A Departments?

At least with the FD's I have been a member of, when an apparatus is due for replacement, that individual Company forms an Apparatus Committee. This Committee will spec out an apparatus that the Committee feels will provide what that Company will need in its' first due response area. Sometimes it works and it will provide a well designed apparatus. Other times (more often than I care to speculate) it is because "that" other Company(either within the Department or a neighboring FD) has "S" or "P" brand and we want the same thing only newer and better. Although I agree with your point about standardizing, it has been my experience that individual Company's are "protective" of their apparatus and very few Apparatus Drivers actually get to operate other Company's apparatus even though we know when you have been trained on one apparatus it is not very difficult to operate another Company's rig.

The only thing you missed is he is the Battalion 17 Coordinator.

There are members on the site that have the 246T who will reply. I have several Radio Shack scanners which program differently than the Uniden's. Until then look over this thread, among others, that have pretty much discussed all that you would need to do. For other topics on the Trunked System, at the top right of the screen find the search box and type in "trunked". Numerous threads will be displayed on the topic. Best of luck, and feel free to post again if no one replys.

When I bought my Canon SD700IS (not a DSLR) I researched various cameras. The most informed reviews I found were at Digital Photography Review. They rated it as highly recommended and that is the way I feel about it. It is another resource to form your opinion.
