  1. Just want to post a few more pic's from the trip's to the KME plant before the L42 (TL) crew start posting their pic's (they are down in FL right now). Unknown ladder truck without the stick. TL stick delivered from the Roanoke, VA Ladder Plant. A view of the pump you don't see everyday. The hose bed without the flooring. If only this were the "right" color this could be the latest addition to our fleet.
  2. I remember that card. My Dad had one on the sunvisor of his car.
  3. As a matter of fact I do know what it is for. I asked that same question to one of the SMFD members who was at the plant. He stated that that is where they store there 4 way LDH valve. The rig had some interesting features, including locks on all compartments and an electric push button lock for the Drivers door. I was told this is because when they respond to wildfires in CA. they can leave the rig unattended for several days. A neat "toy" they also have is a powered extend-a-gun with a wireless remote control monitor nozzle. The hose tray in the rear bed to the right of that little diamond plate door is pinned so it looks like the tray can be removed. And the last feature to mention is they have tie downs on the floor of the rear cab to tie down any additional equipment they may need to take with them when they respond in a task force. Interesting rig.
  4. Some additional pics of the new E99 from our trip the Thursday before last 10/07/10. LED scene lighting above cab steps and behind rear wheels. Front Bumper Tray for 100' of 1 3/4" & 30' 5". Compartment inside rear cab wall to store on board turnout gear. And the finished compartment. Some the KME crew working on the rig.
  5. Here are some more pics of the new E99 from the final inspection on 10/11/10. The rig was delivered to Ruscon this Friday for final prep. I have not heard when it will be delivered to OFD yet.
  6. Just got back fromt the final inspection, here are some pics, will try to post more in the next day or two.
  7. PM me, I can help.
  8. From RadioReference.com official word from the website owner is that NF2G will be pulling the plug on his website. There is a lot of information regarding all sorts of radio systems across New York State that he has compiled over the years. It looks like most if not all of his info will be migrated over to the RR.com site.
  9. From the NY State Association of Fire Chiefs website calendar for October 2010: New York State Association of Fire Chiefs October 14, 2010 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fire Dynamics, Smoke & the Ventilation Profile Westchester Co. Seminar, Ossining, NY Start Time: 7:00 pm | End Time: 10:00 pm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NYSAFC Fall 2010 Seminar Series Fire Dynamics, Smoke & the Ventilation Profile with Safety Officer Peter McBride, Ottawa (Canada) Fire Services Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, 55 Ryder Rd., Ossining, NY 10562 Registration: NYSAFC Member: $15 /Non-Member: $25 per person. On-site and pre-registration available. Being able to read the profile of a fire is critical to situational awareness, risk assessments and decision-making. A firefighter's knowledge and skills, not guesswork or good luck, marks them as a professional. This lecture will review modern fire dynamics, identify the visual cues that can assist in determining the stage of fire, and predict the changes that are likely to occur. These skills are essential in ensuring the correct selection of firefighting strategies and tactics in the control and suppression of fires. This seminar will also be presented in Dutchess & Rockland Counties among others. forwarded to me by efermann. Thanks Lt.
  10. Seth From Lohud.com photo 21 of 25 states it is Ex-Chief Troy Roberts.
  11. Congrats to the New Rochelle FD on being awarded $352,236 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant round 32 (9/24/10) from the Operations and Safety program for the purchase of Equipment.
  12. Cap, I don't know if you had heard, and I don't know if this could be of any help to you, but the BeeLine buses are in the process of implementing what appears to be an AVL system. Last week I attended the DES's Hybrid Bus course and after class I spoke with the BeeLine representative about the radios on the buses. In addition to the trunked radio, they have a separate radio with what appeared to be a GPS screen. The rep stated that it would be GPS. He said about five buses have it operational for testing. What the capabilities of the system are he did not seem to know, he was there mainly to discuss the features of the bus, not necessarily the radios. The infrastructure for this system seems to be up and running with FCC licenses WQHN967 & WQHN968 transmitting data on 477.5875MHz & 478.6875MHz. Might be worth looking into to see if it could enhance what you have already started.
  13. After they get delivered to the Village, and the members are trained on the rigs. E99 is due to be delivered to the Village sometime in November.
  14. Here are pic's of the new E99 from our trip to the KME plant today. More pic's to come. Next trip to plant approx. 10/01/10, with approx. final inspection 10/11/10.
  15. ***** UPDATE ***** This Sunday's class (tomorrow 9/19) on Hybrid Buses will be held at the Jefferson Valley Station on Lee Blvd, NOT at the Furnace Wods Station as advertised. This notification was given to attendees of today's class on Hybrid Vehicles.
  16. About 1610 there was a 6 car accident Northbound directly across from the TMZ where the Sprain goes from three to two lanes as it merges into the Taconic. I drove by it heading southbound shortly after it happened (before Fire, EMS or PD were on scene) and it looked like most occupants were out of their vehicles (although I did hear Hawthorne FD EMS transport one). It did not look too bad, basically bumper to bumper to bumper. I heard Hawthorne FD call back in service about 1640 so I headed back up the Sprain but detoured off when I saw it backed up to I287.
  17. Bump This FREE training is this Saturday and Sunday (9/18 & 9/19). Also here is a link to D R & W Enterprise's website, the Saturday presenter.
  18. I knew John for over thirty years, meeting him for the first time at a FD convention in Wildwood, NJ. Since then we had been casual friends, meeting at various FD events. He would always be around if there was something firematic happening, whether it was a fire, parade, meeting, training, etc. he would always be where the action was. Over the course of time we became closer with John becoming involved in my extended personal family. He would come over to my Mother's & Aunt's house and the family would sit on the front porch or barbecue in the backyard. As Tanker10eng mentioned John was a unique guy. John loved to have the best of everything. It seemed that whatever was the new "thing" out there John already had it. John, IMO, (as some have called me) was a "buff" and he didn't mind that. Personally, I know John helped out alot at my Mother's & Aunt's house whenever anything needed to be done and he will be missed. John, I will miss you and thanks for the memories. Cuz, keep the faith, keep the memories, and you are in my prayers.
  19. While searching the FCC database recently, I found that Westchester County has received authorization to operate on a new UHF frequency pair (476.3000/479.3000MHz) under license WQMI295 at the North Zone towers with Mobile operation. As of now this pair is licensed for conventional (not trunked) operation. The waiver requests dated 09/03/08 & 09/24/08 both state (on page 4 of these waiver requests) that this pair will be used in the trunked system. So, heads up that the frequency 476.3000MHz may need to be programmed in to your scanners for the North Zone if this license is converted from conventional (PW) to trunked operation (YW).
  20. Driving North on Rt.9 last night it looked like the new rig was in Quarters.
  21. Congrats Chris. When is the undercover chopper being ordered?
  22. RIP Frank, he was a good guy.
  23. You got me on that one, I should have known better, only human, I do slip up once in a while. I prefer to wear the pants (while driving) because if we do pull up to a "job", getting "dressed in less than two minutes" will probably not take place for at least five to ten minutes after arrival due to all the neccessary jobs that the Driver will be doing to support the initial attack on the incident.
  24. I did a little research tonight, and found this EMTBravo thread that states that Sleepy Hollow FD has a link for Fire 12, and South Salem FD has a link to Fire 13. My research shows that this is the current info for Trunked System cross band links: Armonk FD 46.20MHz/Fire 16 Katonah FD 46.22MHz/Fire 16 Sleepy Hollow FD 155.775MHz/Fire 12 South Salem FD 45.72MHz/Fire 13
