As far as the route - start is usually up around Roosevelt School i think - where is it ending? someone please help on this.. PS - I hope theres some good pics from there! There have been some pretty good picture packages posted here from recent parades.....

i know i know, just a little road rage moment there. . just a flashback. I've had similar situations (without the crash) - the guy blocking the road actually flipped us off and threw his soda out the window at us!

GOD I don't miss that humidity! Even though the thermometerin my truck said 113, its maybe 15%...hell, around 40 feels like NY

I have been on this tatoo kick lately. Wanted to get an NY tatoo of some kind; small enough, something fairly simple, skyline outline, the towers, some remembreance, i dont't know. any body got one to share? just idea shopping - not looking to steal!! if i see anything cool, or parts of one, all due respect, I WILL ask permission - I WILL NOT not steal someone's design. THANKS in advance!! Jimmy

Without repeating the obvious. make sure the bays are shut. sorry. that being said, what kinda f*$#&(&^% degenerate is gonna go into to a house and rob the guys while they are out saving someons's a** (maybe even someone the freak knew!!!) people like that should be fair game for a serious a** beatin!!! Just me: i have no specifics, but the guy deserves a beatdown! what's next; equipment, radio's, back up units, who knows. New headline - - Havestraw's bravest robbed by havestraw's most chinckensh*%!!

JMO, I think that this is alittle off. It's still ( and always will be pretty raw for many. If the proceeds were going to 9/11 familys. . . . . .maybe. but still, the clips i've seen are just way to "holloywood", too commercial" I think there's gonna be a whoe lotta negative feedback on this one. NEVER FORGET 9 - 11 - 01

Anybody know what happened to the HVVFA pictures from a couple weeks ago? they were on the front page for a couple days, then....poof! gone!
-
sorry this topic kinda got sideways.....i was just curious about the lights! i'd say i got an answer and then some!! As for in service / O O S, I agree with the "no-go theory. If you are in the parade, you aren't responding from the line - way too risky. My company didn't really do parades, but even so, it would have to be pretty significant a call, to try and maneuver thru a crowded parade route to respond. Anyway, just my opinion - everybody need not agree that's the beauty of this site! so, what's everyone think - this topic beat to death yet?

speaking for myself, who got out of the game a while ago, I think the site can be many things. It can be the training tool everyone needs it to be, but sometimes all the "fluff" seems to overpower it and draw your eye. Not saying it's better, I think it's just human nature. The pictures, the parades, the rants, it tends to be a bigger topic sometimes. I whole heartedly agree that training is paramount. Even from the EMS side, drill nites were blown off by some, but luckily we never had a negligent situation. Everyone thinks it's cool to look at the new rigs, see the new toys, see your colleagues at the parade, but ultimately it's that training night (or two...) that pulls it all together. I spent last weekend with a long time friend of mine, who was from my crew back on Long Island years ago. We talk about the crew nights, what we learned, hell, even how it applies today. I've come up on scenes in vegas & cali where training nights helped, possibly saved people. Even though i dont "practice" anymore, it never goes away. Good training never gets old. the fun side always comes around though. Deep down everyone gets that rush when you hear the siren, or see those lights...It's what you do after that that counts. Anyway, like i was saying - this site has so much to offer. you can follow the latest NFPA regs, or see what rig got a new siren. Something for everyone. besides, training isn't just EMTBravo.com ((No offense Seth!) It's drill nites, it's talking after runs and critiquing the play by play to see how you can make it better, it's spending some off-time with you crew to build up relatoinships that lat for years of trust. I've moved 3000 miles from my "service area", and one of my closest, dearest friends took the E class with me in 1988! Sorry for the length, but I agree completely with your thoughts, but this site was built for lots of things. People just need to follow the training side as much as the "who got a new light"side. To all, keep up the great work, in every field of operation you run in, and for god sake ALWAYs stay safe!!!! Thanks to everyone!! Jimmy

CONGRATS TO ALL!! Great job to Ossining for picking up Best Overall.....AGAIN! Any parade pictures floatin around??

I give up....i shrunk the pics and i still cant get them in there, now the first one's gone. Technology sucks sometimes ( i'd take the blame, but it's easier to blame the computer!

Sorry, just felt like sharing another pic. Same deal, but circa +/- late 60's early 70 I think. This one has Dad on the right, and my uncle on the left! Thanks for letting me share. . . .

Well, thank you all for the info. yeah, i didn't even think about the camera. I've taken a few pics from a scene over the weekend, and it looked light they were all off. Oh well..... thanks again!

So, i'e read thru the siren thread going on - LOTS of different opinion and reason, all legit. My question is, what about lights? I've been browsing all the recent parade photo's ((Thanks to all for those!)), and it seems that there is no rhyme or reason to it. some parades no, some yes, and I belive it was the Mamaroneck pix where some were both on and off. Sorry - parade rules are not my thing, so if anybody can clue me in.... Personally, i'm for alot of lights - makes for good fun. Sirens - cool within reason, but if a rig had to break the line for a run (or whatever)...well let's just say it's like that Honda sitting in the WalMart parking lot with the alarm going off - do you really take notice, or just keep going by.... (NOTE: As for "the street", you can never have enough. I've come up behind people at times where, if I had the sun attached to the grill, they still wouldn't see us!!)
