  2. Actually, at the time of Sandy's precicted landfall, the storm is expected to be "extra tropical.' In simple terms, it means that Sandy's core is cold in nature rather than than war as in a hurricane. Further, the National Hurricane does not tract extra-tropical storm systems, local weather offices do. Hence, there have been no hurricane warnings issued along the northeast coast. Wile I understand that their needs to be rules, this is causing confusion among the public.

  8. From today's Albany Times-Union: ALBANY, N.Y. -- Jeffrey Wright has been battling to keep his job since 2010 when he was placed on medical leave by the city. Wright, 36, was an Army Reserve staff sergeant who served in Iraq from February 2004 to March 2005 and became a firefighter in 2007. He was notified in writing last December by fire Chief Thomas Garrett that he was being targeted for termination.
