Actually, at the time of Sandy's precicted landfall, the storm is expected to be "extra tropical.' In simple terms, it means that Sandy's core is cold in nature rather than than war as in a hurricane. Further, the National Hurricane does not tract extra-tropical storm systems, local weather offices do. Hence, there have been no hurricane warnings issued along the northeast coast. Wile I understand that their needs to be rules, this is causing confusion among the public.

From today's NY Times. Could this be coming to your community ? CAMDEN, N.J. — Two gruesome murders of children last month — a toddler decapitated, a 6-year-old stabbed in his sleep — served as reminders of this city’s reputation as the most dangerous in America. Others can be found along the blocks of row houses spray-painted “R.I.P.,” empty liquor bottles clustered on their porches in memorial to murder victims. http://www.nytimes.c...h_20120929&_r=0

From today's NY Times. Very interesting: Prolonged CPR Holds Benefits, a Study Shows When a hospital patient goes into cardiac arrest, one of the most difficult questions facing the medical team is how long to continue cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Now a new study involving hundreds of hospitals suggests that many doctors may be giving up too soon. http://www.nytimes.c...study-says.html

From today's Albany Times-Union: ALBANY, N.Y. -- Jeffrey Wright has been battling to keep his job since 2010 when he was placed on medical leave by the city. Wright, 36, was an Army Reserve staff sergeant who served in Iraq from February 2004 to March 2005 and became a firefighter in 2007. He was notified in writing last December by fire Chief Thomas Garrett that he was being targeted for termination. Wright said he has been undergoing treatment since 2009 for PTSD related to his combat service and has not worked since February 2010. http://www.military....html?ESRC=eb.nl

As one who was a key player in the design and implementation of the current trunk system, it is highly unlikely that the system will be replaced for years !!!
