Looks alot like Package Pavement...

I agree with most everything you said and as i read these threads, my theory is that it's not if you are going to have problems with a new rig, it's how efficiently are the problems going to be solved. As for the E-One killing of Saulsbury, the simple truth is that Saulsbury was way in the red and was not going to be around long anyway, E-One tried for 5 years (unsuccessfully) to re-establish the profitibility in that plant and it does appear now that the current administration may have tried to keep that going, but hindsight is 20/20.

Very typical of someone who uses Sutphen, could you explain further how a fire truck is assembled without human beings???, you think Sutphen uses hand saws and cutting torches to cut out the metals needed for your rig, give me a break. I would assume since you have only looked at Sutphen for 50+ years you would have no idea how other manufacturers assemble their trucks, and for the record, if you look in the county you are from, E-Ones out number Sutphen about 6 to 1, give or take a few.

I'm not sure of the details, but i heard that when they went to Sprint, they lowered their wattage by 50%??, something about fees being less with lower wattage. I have been getting alot of people not reachable and from time to time when you go in and out of service it comes back restricted??, that is in Dutchess Cty, and with Nationwide Direct Connect??

Just to add tot his response: The LED is a no brainer, forget halogen, old technology and a huge draw on alternators, Strobes are on their way out as well, usually individual lights need a power supply, if the supply craps out you lose all of the lights wired to it. LED has made tremendous advancement in our profession, so many choice of colors, flash patterns etc..., and as far as price goes, by the time you add up strobes, cables and supply's you are right there with LED lighting.

My department has a total of 2 Chiefs cars, a new one is purchased every 4 years, the Chief usually gets the new one and the 4yr old car is passed down to next in command, now, i am not sure the last time you priced out apparatus, but you can probably replace at least a half of dozen Chiefs cars for the price of one Custom pumper.

Peekskill Tower Ladder, gold leaf graphics.

Seems to me the people that inspected the lettering 8 years ago didn't know what they were looking for either.

This will replace 134, Fire Patrol.
-
Peekskill delivery would be April 2007, magazine print was in error.

That valve is actually a RIC, rapid intervention connection, it is a NFPA standard on ALL SCBA, the connection is supposed to be universal to all manufacturers and when you by a Scott Rit pak, a RIC connector now comes with that as an additional way to get air to a SCBA.

YES 134

All i know is that they are not out to the dealers yet, usually after FDIC, why they advertise and the product is not readily available yet is beyond me. I know MES-NY would be glad to help you out with Globe or the new boots when available.

The mounting issue is not chassis specific, the bodies are mounted to any steel chassis frame rail the same exact way, as far as working with the Preble Plant after the purchase, all i can say is FSS resuced a company that was going down, they realized after 5 years there was no profitabilty in that plant and decided to consolidate everything into one campus in Fla. Not alot of actual floor workers took the move (which FSS offered an extremely nice relocation package to most employees) some sales administrators and some of the engineering are either located there or working out of offices in NY. There were some rough spots for a while but that is to be expected when a new buyer takes over and changes things to a company that was not profitable, I read alot of these threads on this site bashing equipment and manufacturers and i'm not that familiar with the FDNY products problems, but what i do know is, MOST of the E-One and combo E-One/Saulsbury units that are in service in my area are not having any more or less problems than ANY other manufacturer (especially the chassis). There are alot of Manufacturers stepping up to the plate and building some really nice pieces around, let see how they are in 5 years!!

They look like Spartan chassis, either Gladiator or Advantage??

Globe lifeline is being used by many EMS groups in Dutchess County, it offers a Nomex outer shell for a little more protection, it tends to be a little pricier than some other brands, but it has been very well received.

If i'm not mistaken, this rig is in Lake George Escape campground for Fire truck rides during the camping season.

January 1,1996, Dutchess Cty, Dover Plains, Poly-Tech recycling facility. 175' x 400' x 3 stories, 2/3 of the building was crumb rubber & tire chips from recycling used tires, week long event through the "Blizzard" 0f 96 and sub-freezing temps, no hydrants, 16,000ft 5" ldh on the ground the first day, 6 or 7 aerial devices, too many to count engines and tankers, total of 41 departments mutual aid for the week, It was the largest mutaul aid fire in the history of Dutchess County. I know there are some/most Putnam County departments that will remember this one!!
-
I think it went to City of Cohoes.
-
I believe there is one engine in Poughkeepsie, and a 75' platform in Hyde Park.
-
The old Mt. Kisco truck went to Dutchess County (Dover Plains), about 91' ??, it was just recently sold to a department in the Albany area, i will let you know who when i think of it. Dover Plains is waiting the arrival of a new E-One 75' quint to replace the Sutphen truck.

As far as the Smeals are concerned, it's my understanding that Smeal totally went back to the drawing board and designed a rig just for YFD, turning radius, overall height, one set of "A-frame" style jacks and one set of out/down jacks, not sure what other manufacturer would redesign an aerial device??. The E-One/Saulsbury comments are funny to read with most not knowing what situation Saulsbury was in before being purchased, from what i've heard, they were not going to be around long anyway, so it sounds like E-one just prolonged the inevitable, it's not easy to do business in NYS, just look where most of the other major manufacturers are located. it remains to be seen what type of product comes out of ocala with Saulsbury tags on them, first few i've seen look pretty good, and are still available with Spartan chassis.
