  1. Good luck..., however, they sell advertising space on the main page...
  2. The biggest reason why was because the turnaround time on setting up a new "accident" and the cleanup from the previous evolution took too long and it was limited to 6-8 teams due to time constraints, it was suggested to do a "Fire" event/competition to allow more teams to sign up, but as it turned out, the same 6 or 7 departments showed up.
  3. This could also fall into the Thread: When is Big to Big, this is exactly why rigs are costing what they are today, how many engineers did they have to pay to design that 1 rig, and how many repeat sales do you think will come from that design???
  4. Some things never change.....
  5. The 3 digit number was a civil defense number i believe, there were a few departments used those numbers for awhile until the mid 80's, then Dutchess County used a very informal system until the current numbering system was put in place,(engine 1,2, Car 1,2, Rescue 1,2 etc...) you had to say your FD name ahead of the unit you had and alot of times with repeater transmissions the first part of the transmission was cut off and all the dispatcher heard was ...engine 1 responding, and that could have been anybody, so the new numbering system has helped. Wassaic is above Dover Plains, in the Town of Amenia, last stop on the Metro North line.
  6. Standard blue color Nomex from Globe Firesuits.
  7. I'm not really sure who built that body originally but i believe it waqs refurbished once as well, they replaced it with a 3000 gal tanker made by Smeal on an International chassis and yes it's blue, they have 2 other engines (i think they are both Pierce??) and a small rescue (Rescue 1) all blue like the photo you have, they are a smaller FD and yes there bunkers are blue as well.
  8. They are available in other sizes to match your LDH...
  9. There is a two piece adapter made with set screws on the part that attaches to the hydrant which at least makes the vandals have to get some tools, and then the FD wrench is needed for the cap, some departments i know are getting monies throught their town/village water departments and installing them on all of their hydrants.
  10. There is one thing i'm sure of, E-One has NEVER had a catastrophic failure OR a tip over of one of their aluminum built aerials, the steel you mentioned could only be their Bronto product which is built in Finland and the Fire Apparatus part of Bronto has been a part of E-One since the late 90's (approx.) with no known failures. I'll give you the paint issues from the past etc... I guess LFDR1 would know why E-One (if it was indeed one) was to blame for aging equipment supplied by another vendor would have caused the rig to do whatever it did...
  11. I believe you are right on, also note the HD rubber rub rails low and high to help protect what is on the sides of the body.
  12. MES-NY as well, Cutters Edge dealer... The Diamond blade seems to be doing very well.
  13. Can't wait to read the forums on Firehouse.com about this deal.
  14. While we are waiting for the photo's from Peekskill, there is one photo on the E-One website under new deliveries.
  15. I don't have that yet, seems like a great idea, i do have a question about the lens you mentioned, is that the one on their website for around $ 500.00, i bought a Canon Rebel XTI (I think that it's the latest version) for my wife, and she is requesting more zoom, i think the one you mentioned would work alot better that what we have.
  16. SnapShot took a bunch of photo's yesterday, not sure when they will be posted...
  17. PFD will be getting training this week on the new apparatus and i'm sure we will get some good photos outside, there were pictures taken yesterday at the delivery, i'm not sure who will be sending the photo's in, as for the current 134 that is being taken in as a trade-in by a used apparatus dealer through the dealer that sold the new 134. Hope this helps.
  18. Yes it was, it was delivered this morning to Peekskill.
  19. I got to know Ed through the Fire service and he was a true Gentlemen, i spent a couple of years in Clove Valley while i was building my house and my family used to buy Christmas Trees from Ed & his wife who sold them from their property in Union Vale. Great man and he will be missed by many.
  20. No Balls on the Impala??, it can't be the '07 model with the V8 you are referring to, i just bought the new 'Active Fuel Management" V8 that reduces to a 4 cylinder when your cruising etc... there are very few places i can use the V8 to it's potential, this thing is like a rocket....
  21. JJ will be missed by many, he was a great friend, i got to know him very early in my FF career and got to know him much more the last few years. Rest in Peace JJ i will missyou.
  22. So what you are saying is that both LTI and Saulsbury should have died peacefully instead of being bought out, because i know for a fact that one of them was in the red so far that only a buy out was to save them, how good were they if they could not make money???, do you think ALF is the same quality as the original ALF products??? or the new Ahrens Fox for that matter, it is companies acquiring names trying to hold onto that customer base, change is evident with all of the corporate shuffling... just one opinion on a never ending issue...
  23. A rotray is a motorized spinning light with 3 light fixtures attached, very popular in the DC/Virginia area, one local unit that has one that i know of is the Westchester Cty PD Bomb Squad Unit.
  24. Finally, someone got it right, AMEN....
