  1. 1/27/04 Arlington - City Council Item "This purchase is for two new fire apparatus to replace two existing front-line fire apparatus that have reached the end of their service life. The purchase includes: Crimson Fire "Star" Series Custom 100' Aerial Apparatus $620,971 Crimson Fire "Star" Series Custom Pumper $365,017 A pre-construction conference and three inspection conferences to ensure that all systems are addressed prior to and during construction $ 12,000 An H-GAC administrative fee $ 2,000 The total cost of the purchase is $999,988. " The Engine will replace the last remaining 1994 KME currently in service as Engine 13. As for the Quint, I have no idea where it will be stationed as all five Quints are 1998 or newer.
  2. I'll take the Tower!! I've never worked off of one, but I have been up in two buckets. (Sutphen and the new Ferrara midmount/tower) I've only worked off of a Pierce Arrow, and Pierce Dash 75' Quint. Although I don't mind locking in and working from a stick, I would prefer a bucket if I'm going to perform a rescue or work a master stream for a long period of time. 8) 8)
  3. Seth: We DO NOT have parades and wetdowns here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. [-X Some of the cities do have 4th of July parades, and will have their apparatus in the parade. If you look at Arlington's Engine 911 (The 1954 ALF 700), that Engine use to be a front-line piece until the late 70's. The only time you'll see Engine 911 is in the 4th of July parade. When a new apparatus arrives it goes to the shop for a week or two, then it's placed into service for response. About the only thing extra that some Depts. will add is a Q and a bell on the front bumper. You won't find a Roto-Ray in Dallas/Fort Worth. (Cypress Creek near Houston is the only dept. I know of that has them.) Another thing you won't find in Dallas/Fort Worth is a Seagrave. The most recent Seagrave was a 70's Snorkel that was refurbished into a Ladder in the 80's. It was Truck 7 for the Arlington Fire Dept., but the ladder failed in 1997. Arlington replaced it with a 1998 75' Quint. Dallas runs all Spartan/Crimson (formerly Quality). Fort Worth runs Freightliner/General, Spartan/General, ALF, and E-One. Arlington runs Freightliner/Quality, Spartan/Crimson (Quality), and a KME. The Euro-style Chevrons are catching on around here. Arlington E-4 and E-7, Plano, Lake Cities, Bedford, and Grapevine has them on their rigs. Arlington is the only one with them on the front bumper. :joy: :joy:
  4. Hi guys and gals. My name is Peter from Bedford, Texas. I am currently working as a Receiving Manager for Office Depot. I use to be a Volunteer Firefighter for the Pantego Fire Dept. here in the Fort Worth area. I'm currently certified as a FF/EMT-Basic and was a Part-time FF/EMT from Sept. 02-Sept. 03. I went to a Fire Academy that was run by The Colony, Texas Fire Dept. and ran calls with The Colony while in Rookie School. I'm currently looking to get hired as a full-time FF/EMT somewhere here in Texas. I'm also planning to go back to school in the fall to get my Associates Degree in Fire Investigation. In my spare time I like to photograph fire apparatus. (Pierce being my favorite.) In my profile you will find a link to my website. I have over a hundred photos from throughout Texas, and the Southern U.S. Some of the photos were sent to me by members of my site, and those photos have been credited to those members. I'm also a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan!! I want to thank Seth for letting me join his little site here, and we may Blah Blah :blahblah: :blahblah: one another to death. (It's an on-going joke between us from another board)
  5. Hi guys!! I'm new to this board, but I happen to know x635 from another board. :blahblah: This is my website. Most of the photos were taken by me. The ones that weren't have credit given to the person who sent them to me. Just click on the pictures link, and it will take you to the albums. I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, so you will find most of the photos are from Texas. Enjoy. :peace: www.msnusers.com/FireApparatusPhotos
  6. ROTFLMAO!!! A cold front moved (that's what the weatherman said!!) through here this morning and it reached about 65 degrees today. It had been in the mid 70's the last two weeks, but it was raining here Friday and Saturday.. Yes, the pool is now open. 8)
