No. I've seen the tank level lights on several different apparatus mfg. If you look at my website, you'll see Waco, Texas has them on their Pierce Engines. Truck 14 (MASTERS OF DISASTER) is a 135' E-One Straight Stick. The reason for it is this Truck is assigned to the High Angle Rescue Team. So they had to have the biggest stick.

Fire Rescue International 2004 will be held in New Orleans this year. I went to the 2003 show here in Dallas, and thought it was great. I'm still thinking about whether or not if I'm going this year to New Orleans. Exhibit Hall Hours Located at New Orleans’ Morial Convention Center, exhibit hall hours are: Friday, August 13 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

$61,000 +....WOW!! I'm testing next week for a F.D. that starts at $44,000+ and I thought that was pretty good. Is the cost of living that high in and around Yonkers? (I know NYC is.)
-
I just read over on the Code 3 BB that the starting pay in Yonkers is $61,000 a year!! :yikes: Is that TRUE?!!
-
I have no idea. My receipts always show no tax, and I never noticed anything on the pumps. :-k I just look for a gas station that is NOT asking for a arm and a leg for a gallon of gas. #-o

Simple!!! Remember when I said your blah..blah was somewhere in "COWTOWN?" Well....... :-# Seth...sorry about that!! I didn't see that question last night. Yes, the name Top Gun does have a story behind it. Back in 1990, (I believe) Fort Worth Engine 5 was the busiest Engine Company according to the Firehouse listing. Over the years Engine 5 has been the busiest Engine Company in Fort Worth. BFD1054...here's the answers to your questions... 1. Every Engine from 1995 to present has a light tower mounted on them. They're Command Light, and fold down over the hose bed. The Hazmat Squad, Ladder Tender 8, and Rescue 14 have these light towers also. 2. The Engines are from General Safety out of Minnesota. They are mounted on a Spartan Metro Star Cab. 3. The colored lights on the side is what Seth was talking about. They indicate the water level in the tank. Green meaning full, and red meaning empty. BTW....I mentioned in my last post about Station 8, and the purpose of the Ladder Tender. The Ladder Tender has a pump/tank/and carries a crosslay. Station 8 will be replaced with a brand new station located about 7 blocks West of the current station. I also mentioned about the reserve aerials not fitting in the station. Fort Worth's reserve trucks are mid 1980's Sutphen Quints with a 75' Aerial/Tower. Any other questions feel free to ask. I'll try to answer them for you. :blahblah: :blahblah: :mrhappy: :mrhappy:
-
The Ladder Tender is only at Station 8. The reason for it was that the old Truck 8 failed, and none of the reserve pieces fit in Station 8. So while ALF was building the new midmount aerial/tower they bought the Ladder Tender to use as Truck 8. Now when the new aerial/tower goes in for service the Ladder Tender becomes the first-out for Truck 8. The other Ladder Tender is now called Rescue 14, and is used as a Heavy Rescue. Seth: The pumps are in the left rear and right rear roll-up compartments.

SP is special placement apparatus. Like SP 825 is the Mobile Command Center. SP 806 is the Division 1 Deputy Chief. One of them is the Air/Light Truck, and another one I know is the Maitenance Division rig.

Okay, I know Seth is from the WC. However he has spent some time recently in the Boston area. With the Baseball Season starting up here in a few weeks, and the Red Sox, and Yankees will be the game of the week on Fox. I was wondering who you all think will win? I'm rooting for the Red Sox!!! :peace: I can NOT stand the Yankees!! They took A-Rod from my team!! [-X

I'm glad to hear the Firefighter was okay.

This is what I had to go through. From the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. A "basic structure fire suppression training program" is one that covers all the objectives of the commission's Basic Fire Suppression Curriculum. The Basic Fire Suppression Curriculum consists of 468 hours of basic fire protection training. It is roughly equivalent to the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) Fire Fighter I, Fire Fighter II, Driver/Operator-Pumper, HazMat-Awareness and HazMat-Operations. I also had to take a 180 hour EMT-Basic course. As for Volunteers it's set by each jurisdiction. However there is a Volunteer Firefighters certification by the State Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas. I'm not sure how many hours it is.

The Carrollton, Texas Fire Dept. recently took delivery of this General with a Spartan Evolution cab. This is the 1st Evolution to go in service in the D/FW metroplex. 8) 8) (Photo is property of Task Force 7)

I too thought the Evolution was FUGLY when it first came out. After seeing them in person at Fire Rescue International 2003 in Dallas, and the Carrollton one.....They've grown on me. As for the UGLIEST looking cab.....The new Rosenbauer whatever wins hands down!!! :-& :-&

Arlington, Texas DOES NOT use 10 codes. They use words when on the radio. For instance 10-4 would be...RECEIVED. If asked a question you say affirmative for yes, and negative for no. Arlington does have MDTs on their apparatus. I constantly hear Dispatch telling units to update their status, if they forget. If Arlington is dispatched on a fire or MVA, the officer will give a size up on the air when arriving on scene. A working fire is just that. You will hear the IC request additional alarms if needed. Arlington does use Signal Codes if they find a victim or a body.
-
I have a Uniden BC235XLT Trunk Tracker. I listen to the Arlington Fire Dept. most of the time.

You'll have to rent an apartment then!! I don't think my little place could hold that many people!!  Just ask Seth what the name is of my apartment complex!!

After reading through this thread, I find interesting how the terms are used differently up there in WC. Down here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area we try to keep it simple. For instance: 1. Dallas Fire Rescue designates their apparatus as the following. Engine: Just what it is, an Engine. Truck: All Aerials in Dallas are straight sticks. Rearmounts, midmounts and a Tiller. (No pumps on any of them.) Rescue: They are the Ambulances. Red: These are the Airport Crash Trucks. Brush: These are the Brush Trucks Fort Worth does pretty much the same. Engine Truck:The Trucks in Fort Worth are 3 aerial/towers, and 1 135' straightstick. Quint: The 75' sticks with the chrome thing in the middle. Rescue: These are Light Rescues, Heavy Rescues, and the Airport Crash Trucks. Squad: Is the Hazmat team. I won't talk about Frisco. They run Quints and call them Engines. :-s

Tac...If it makes you feel any better, IT'S GOING TO BE 81-84 DEGREES TODAY, FRIDAY, AND SATURDAY!!! It was 82 yesterday. I'll have to check out the pool Saturday and see what my new neighbors look like!! :peace: :chick: :chick:

This is one of Fort Worth's new Quint. It's a completely refurbished job from their old Spartan/LTI Quint. This Quint has been in service for about 6 months now. Quint 12 serves the historical Fort Worth Stock Yards. (Home of Billy Bob's Texas) (Photo is property of Task Force 7)

That's a lot of truck. A tiller? Negative....It's a rearmount. Here's a link to Truck 14. It's nickname is "MASTERS OF DISASTER". Fort Worth names most of their apparatus. 8) 8) http://www.fwfd.net/images/engines/q14a.jpg (The photo is from www.fwfd.net The official site of the Fort Worth Fire Dept.)

x635: It depends on if the Quint is the only piece that runs out of the station. Quint 9, and Quint 33 run as both since there is NOT an Engine Co. stationed with them. The stations were an Engine is stationed with the Quint, then the Quint is a Truck Co. Fort Worth only has one TRUE Ladder, and that's Truck 14. Truck 14 is a 135' E-One straight stick. Truck 1, Truck 2, and Truck 8 are Aerial/Towers. The rest of the aerials in Fort Worth are 75' Quints. Quint 33 runs sort of like Rochester, New York does. They have Attack 33 that runs with them. Attack 33 is like a Mini Pumper on a Ford F-Series Crew Cab dually. Here's what Attack 33 looks like. (Photo is property of Task Force 7)
