I was just wondering... what are the various types of foam (if there are various types) and what their different uses are, as well as under what circumstances to use or not to use foam. I was also wondering the different capabilities i.e. foam tank sizes and other equipment that is used or stored on trucks around the area.

I was just wondering- As i was looking through the photos of the Pleasantville Parade, is that ladder 39 behind the two ALF engines (you cant really see very well which is why i was asking)

At this rate, we're gonna have manufacturers like Seagrave building super sized ambulances... Only in America

Can some one tell me how they still made it ALL THE WAY to california with pieces that big missing on their plane?!
-
You definately dont need rock music and footage of trucks flying down a highway to make a good video- This is a perfect example; Great job!

How many fire departments around the area have apparatus built to be low profile? Is this because of height restrictions inside the firehouse?Ex: Yorktown and Pelham's new ladders...

Why in some areas of the country (none in westchester, but some in NJ) are there separate rescue squads, and what are the advantages or disadvantages to this? If there is something like an MVA do they do a dual response with the fd? If you have examples of squads around here or more information in general, please list!

I guess I never thought about a rescue in the same configuration as a tiller; come to think of it, you could use those trucks as hazmat or mobile command centers. But now that i've seen it, IT LOOKS AWESOME

Why do some rescue trucks (none in Westchester that i know of) have cranes and why do no units around here have them? Is it for recovery operations or for use in the absence of a heavy wrecker? I believe that Mt. Penn, Pa as well as Livingston, NJ operates examples of these configurations.

135 FIRE TRUCKS!!!! Boy would I love to have a collection like that. Looks like he has a good collection from the pic- possibly a late 40's early 50's American La-France Open cab engine, and a TDA (top left). I'll take a few

Does anyone know if at one point if either hartsdale or farview ran a telesquirt rig?

That Freightliner "Attack 64" looks like one heck of a truck! Speaking of Freighliner- the new Unimog trucks are pretty cool looking and would serve a good purpose as a brush or "mini- attack " truck. I cant see why more departments arent using them.

In today's world, Volvo truck chassis are most likely (if even) to be used for a tanker application. However, a little while ago, Volvo purchased some assests of the White and Autocar Motor Companies and combined to sell those brands. Around here under the White brand, Stamford has a 1980's unit that runs as engine 8. In Westchester, Goldens Bridge's tanker 1 is a 1988 White. If you look on the grille, you can see the bar that goes across vertically, evidence of Volvo as they manufacture Volvo trucks the same way. Further upstate (and you can see this on the Gowands-Knight website) Kingsbury runs a Volvo/Autocar engine.

I must admit i was very suprised to see this.. convicts...serving life for homicide...fighting fires. I personally think this combination does not mix well, all things considered. Shouldnt this be a "maxium security" deal where there are very strict rules? How on earth is a convict allowed to go off prison grounds...and how are they allowed to be fighting fires? This whole thing seems pretty absurd..and i wouldnt feel safe with them working in my neighborhood. Maybe its just me, but shovels, pike poles, chain saws and 60,000 pound pieces of apparatus with convicts serving a life sentence for murder dont match.

Does anyone know how much power these trucks had? They Looked like BEASTS! Although not that i know of, are there any other city departments that used a system like this one?
-
Maybe the cat is going to save the firefighter ...I think it can afford to fall; a cat's nine lives vs. the one of a firefighter.
-
Does anyone know how long the "telesquirts" have been around and who manufactures them? Were there or are there any of these rigs in service around the area?
-
AWESOME VIDEO I think it takes them a long time to respond because they are the second alarm assignment so they are further away from the scene. It may also be because they drive a tiller and you cant go through the small back streets that easily.

Does anyone know if the brush fire units saw service today during the large brush fire(s) in the Bronx?
-
Funny thing you should mention the commerce bank...from what i've heard they are everywhere and look EXACTLY the same...and aparently they have the highest robbery rate because the banks look so inviting. I agree, no more banks.

Looks like some good stuff; has anyone actually tried the products?

I was just wondering what towns or cities have designated trucks or trailers for collapse rescues? What kind of equipment are on them and how often to do they see service?
