  1. Both of those should be the canteen trucks for the county! However, I dont know about eating turkey and ice cream at the same time...
  2. Back in the storms during January, we had a large tree on wires down over one of our main roads. The cop decided it was ok to leave the scene after he put up caution tape, several barricades, etc. However, the motorists passing through decided they didnt have the patience for a 30 second detour, and moved the barricades and tape aside. When the cops responded back to the scene and stopped traffic to move the barricades back (with lights flashing), the motorists still ignored him and sped by. It got so bad as to the point where he called our department for assistance to block the road with our rescue. All I can say is, why?
  3. http://www.piercemfg.com/apparatus/RailRescue.cfm Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Or have they ever done/built something like this before? Does anyone think that this would be practical for any departments around here, or even for use by the MTA? Should the MTA have a rescue like this? That rescue does look pretty cool with hy-rail gear....what do you think? Also, check out the brochure for even cooler pics and specs.
  4. What are the departments around our area that use "highway stripes" on their rigs? Also, what is everyone's opinion of them? Are they useful and effective?
  5. I believe feed 4, "All fire" of fairfield and westchester counties is back on scanct as of a few days ago. Its back!
  6. Maybe its just me, but doesnt that look a little large for an atv and jetski?
  7. I was at Somers parade last night and saw a new 2006 Ford F-650 or 750 series LDH supply truck with two giant reels in the back, and it appeared to be manufactured by Gowans Knight. If anyone could fill me in as to some specs of the truck, when it came in to service, etc that would be great. Thanks!
  8. I was wondering how many different helicopter services operate out of our lower hudson valley, north jersey and connecticut area, and what the companies are, how many choppers they fly, where their service areas are, and where their helicopters are kept. I was also wondering (dumb question) if the new york metropolitan area has an emergency helicopter serivce, or if there is a need for one? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  9. WHAT AN AMAZING HOUSE... and what an amazing family and group of people that came together to build that house. Simply amazing how much love and support a commnuity can have. Congrats Arena family on your new home!
  10. No offense to anyone in that department, but isint that a little too much and over the top?
  11. The show is on RIGHT NOW....one boat got slammed witha 50 foot rogue wave Is this the deadliest job in the world?
  12. Though not a B-85, Vista ran a 1959 B-52 tandem axle 3600 gallon tanker truck. It was the first tanker 4, a retired oil truck.
  13. With the completed graphics that truck is gonna look amazing! And I also like the fact that they went with the conventional doors vs. the roll up doors.
  14. Does anyone know what the long term plan is and how much it would cost, or when it would be done? And when the SMRP floods in that section- how long does it take for the water to subside, and how high does the water get?
  15. Besides the goat, i was wondering about who owns the bucket truck? Is that like a utility truck or something?
  16. I was just wondering what the sizes were of the different fire districts around westchester (i.e. square mileage) and also (if you know) how many people live in your fire district. I was also wondering about how the fire districts we have today were determined. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks- BedfordFire
  17. In your opinion, what piece of apparatus in Westchester has the best graphics? Also, what kinds of graphics does your department's rigs have? (this can be anything from the numbers to slogans to murals). This should be interesting to see who has picutres of what on their trucks
  18. It is a Chevy/GMC cab with a Pierce body. Not really a fan of the Chevy/GMC 4500 and up models.
  19. Now thats a nice looking truck! For anyone in the Rombout Fire Department- Do all your trucks have traffic/highway stripes or does only this rig?
  20. Are you refering to the Brookfield Auto Wreckers Yard in Elmsford?
  21. AGREED.
  22. Its called a parking garage unit because it is specially designed low profile to fit inside the parking garages provided there is some sort of call there- a place where the trucks and engines cannot fit.
  23. NOW THATS A STORY....what was your location tho?
  24. I dont think there is any apparatus in Westchester that has them...but as far as i know ever since i saw Radnor PA's Rescue 15 with the roto-ray I fell in love with it. I wish they had them on rigs around here cause like you, I am a fan.
