Great post. Thank You.

Understand, not personal and for the record, I'm born and raised in Westchester. Generalizing southerners in a negative way is no different then generalizing African Americans in a negative way. Should integration at a school activity be an issue? Of course not.

Stupid comment.

Hope the don't start free needle distribution.

Hot topics are interesting and I agree with your post for the most part however, I think "no good" is a bit strong for people who are not into blogging or posting etc. Don't get me wrong, progressive thinking in any aspect of life is a good thing.

No, not right. It doesnt have anything to do with my house. It has everything to do with "johnny gonna save the world" going to a trash fire and ohter minor calls which make up the majority of what we respond to.

Nobody has the right to push anyone through a red light at an intersection for any reason period. If it take an extra minute so be it. For those who practice this get over trying to save the world and drawing attention to yourself, your rig and all your lights, sirens, and horns. This action only brings negative feelings from the public.

And your law enforcement experience and backround is? By the way you sound really angry.

I remember Ladder 34 was an open cab Maxim and the other two were closed.

If I remember right White Plains Ladder 32 was a tiller in the late 70s to early 80s. Correct me if I'm wrong but didnt WP run all tillers prior to the tower ladder arrival around 80 or so?

I wasnt there and its always easy to Monday morning quarterback. IMO they were justified in using the Taser however, perhaps after the first couple of shots I would have cuffed him and carried or dragged him with the help of other officers out of the library. To continue to tase him in front of a bunch of liberal students who think they know everything about everything only escalates the situation. In my experience every situation is different and things can step off real quick when you least expect it. I suspect these officers will come out ok. Hey, all he had to do is stand up.

In my department we qualify twice a year which includes day/night pistol (we carry Glock 37), day/night shotgun and day/night combat course pistol only. Off duty we can carry just about anything as long as we can qualfy on the same course of fire for our duty weapon. There was a time some of the officers would carry revolvers as off duty weapons but the course of fire time lines are so stingent now it's not easy to load/reload and make your time. Most of our officers carry a smaller Glock or SW off duty.

My department went to the Glock 37 last year. For the most part the officers are happy with them. In typical Glock fashion the weapon is light and the kick slight. Having been out to the range several times since receiving the Glock I have only had one jam which was quickly cleared. The rounds are expensive if you want to purchase more than your department allows for practice. Breaking the Glock down is sometimes more difficult then others. Overall I like the weapon.

Justice was served here. I am a PO and I appreciate the support from the members of this group. We often break some cop/firefighter balls on this forum but always in good spirit and healthy rivalry. It's good to know we all stand behind each other when the going gets tough. 488, that was a hell of a video clip. I'm not familiar with that incident but I'm going to PM you for more info.

Thanks guys

Does anyone know what companies are housed in the single bay firehouse that looks out over the Cross Bronx Expressway? On your left heading south. I want to say it's close to where an Amsterdam Ave sign is posted.

We used to go down to Engine 35/Laddder 14 in the mid 70s. Man it was unreal some days and nights.

2007 engine/exhaust requirements are going to add close to 20K to the price of a rig.

Pretty much the same for the Air Force however about 10 or so years ago they started allowing the wear of camoflauge in town to include eating establishments and bars. Again like als stated you have too much and act stupid your toast. Here around Ft Bragg and Pope AFB the Army personnel also are allowed in town with camoflauge. Not sure if thats all Army posts or just this one. Ever since the gulf war you don't see a lot of Air Force or Army personnel in blue or green dress uniforms anymore. From what I saw traveling in the last 5 years of my 20 in the USAF camoflauge is pretty much the uniform of the day anymore which is why I think they allow the wear of same in town.

Hoss, is the plea bargining done at the scene or in court? I think if a trooper wants to write a lesser offense ticket on the scene he can if one exists but must bargain in court. Well not anymore I guess.
