Sounds like a good reason to me. Its a good idea having a designated area like this to be able to do any sort of training, you really can't depend on municipal parking lots and school lots all the time. Also if you have limited room at your station traning space is limited. Even if it is to just set up an aerial or water operations.

I think it would be benficial for the County Departments to look into this system. Depending on your area you might not need it as much as others but it is more than just response times to me it could also be looked at as a saftey feature. Instead of having to make hazardous driving conditions while responding to alarms approaching stopped traffic and decreasing potental traffic accidents. A few Rockland Departments have used the OPTICOM SYSTEM for some time and I have never heard anything negative about the system. Nanuet, West Nyack, Pearl River, and possibly Orangeburg have the System. I don't know much about the System but I'm pretty sure that you only have to equip certain lights that you want in your district, with this feature if you might have a small area but 1 or 2 dangerous intersections that this would be good having in place.

What type Of Rig?: Manufacturer, Etc.
-
Looking at a few back Forums on Rigs from the Past and I could'nt help thinking about Maxim rigs. This County had there fair share of them. Ossining had 5 inservice at one point, Croton had 2, Valhalla had 2 or 3. There were many more still in service I know Armonk has there Supply/ Source Maxim rig, White Plains Volunteer Div. still has one I believe and Yorktown had one still in service in reserve status until a few years ago , know I belive its an antique. Also alot of department ran Maxim Ladders aswell: Ossining ran 2, Croton, Valhalla, Tarrytown, Dobbs Ferry-I believe, anyone else?

I have a bunch of guys I know from 80 and the Process of restoration has already started. The Motor is down South or out West getting redone and all Chrome and misc. Equipment has been Housed and will start being redone. From what I understand the Rig was found in Michigan owned by a collector who either bought and then restored it to the look of original Factory photo's or he bought it like that. It was painted red after purchased from the Department when replaced by a 1965 Anniversary addition model Engine (Another Beautiful Truck). They have also been doing fundraiser's for obviously funding for this project. It doesn't have a pump. They have had it for about a year know. It was flatbeded from Michigan to Ruscon when it first came back.

Behind you Seth.

Have heard the same thing from those guys and from other members from Spring Valley. What for the ALF Tower!
-
Yes Spring Valley has 2 ladders "17-Tower" which is the Metz thing and I believe the other ones designation is "17-quint" don't quote me on that but it is a 1984 Lafrance Quint. The Metz is from Spring Valley H&L and the Quint which is going to be replaced by An ALF very Similar to Tarrytown's T.L. 78 is with Rockland H&L. The Quint has also been out of Service for sometime know. Due to Mechanical and Aerial Issues.

Don't remember the name of the place but its in the A&P shopping center in Goldens' Bridge has huge slices like one is equal to at least 2 regular slices. Some probably know where I'm talking about. Most Unique slice I've ever had was a Chili Cheese Fries Slice from some place in Seaside Heights Jersey about 2 0r 3 years ago.

Hats off to the boys from Thornwood nice Rig!
-
As it is looking now it will definitly not be DRY!!!!

I believe the requirment for stripping on rigs is it has to be atleast a 3 inch thick reflective stripe on both sides of the apparatus. I am really not sure about the rear of the rig, Personally I am a fan of Highway stripping.

Black to me looks the best, Traditional is more the reason. Have heard alot of positive feedback from Departments who switched from black to Tan, PBI Gold, Etc. about how much cooler they are in the lighter color gear. The Natural color I think its called that Katonah & Bedford Village wears is also pretty good looking aswell.
