Wasn't there a big issue about this about 10 years ago here in Westchester about the abuse of air transports. I was living in the city at that time and remember seeing something on the news about that, how it took more time to get the bird up and to the scene then it took for many ambulances to ge to the ER.

We had a memeber of the county Haz Mat team come to our fire dept about two years ago, He gave about a 2 hour course on how we can help the haz mat when we call them in. Well he stated that that along the hudson line here in westchester there are no HazMats moved on those tracks and that the longest frieght train only carries 15 cars. When we told him that was not true that the county shouldcome around about 3 am most days and take a look, he just quickly changed the subject.

Verizon does have a two way service but its not very good and you have to pay for it, they dont offer free two way at all like nextel. You have to pay by each connect and they offer plans per minute ontop of your calling plan.

If you are going to the hayride Tonight in SLeepy stop by the Columbia Hose table and say hi. We will be selling Fifty- Fifty raffles and handing out some fire prevention information. Hope to see you all there

You really cant blame the Feds on this, NIMS and ICS has been mandated since 2002. Its not the feds problem if agencies did not start switching over then when it was mandated, its the local agencies fault. since no one switched over in four years now everyone complaining that feds are holding money over there head to switch. This has been in place since 2002, we all had the chance to take these classes and prevent then from holding back money, now everyone is complaning that the feds ar enforcing this when we all could of prevented it over a four year period just by taking three to five simple classes, We just have ourselves to blame
-
With the NIMS clock ticking down how many FD's are NIMS ready? To be honest with you I have seen very few Fire Departments taking any ICS classes. Hopefully you all been doing it online. I have been teaching ICS 200 & 300 since April here in the county and other places, and all the classes I would have to say I have had about a total of 10 Fire Fighters, and 3/4 of those were Career FF's. Now keeping in mind all my classes are during the daytime so I hope most of you are doing it at night and on line. This is something that is not going to go away. If anyone needs information on who needs what classes just ask and I will post it.

I have FIOS now for almost 8 months now and it rocks, FIOS tv I was told is coming next month to my area, at least that was what the Tech who was installing next door to me said.
-
better yet why do fire departments have dues and Ambulance Corps dont? Well i should say my ambulance corp dont. I would just assume that many others dont either?
-
I never understood how or why departments fined you for missing calls or not going to meetings. It sounds like a money makeing deal for the department. I just cant see making someone who gives there time freely, and then making them pay a fine for missing a call or a meeting or a parade. Can you picture this " hey Joe thanks for coming around this year and oh by the way here is your bill for the calls you missed and the 2 meetings and the parade you didnt come too and by the way pay it ASAP or we have to kick you out". I would hope most of the Departemnts that do this do not have a manpower problem.
