If it was coffee and donuts it would make us cops

We do its called a donation, and our crew does get feed. As far a wearing on memebers this is only a few Saturdays a year, so not much of a toll is taken, we avg maybe 1 call a year from it not much wear and tear on the rigs, So if Rocky wants to donate each time we cover we will keep going. I dont think the crew should get paid its a volunter service, if thats the case we should get paid for doing fire stand bys which puts more wear and tear on the crews and on a rig then a stand by at a fair for an event.

I think its a great idea, as long as resurces are not spread thin at home. We do the samething for Rockefeller's during the spring and summer. They usually make a small donation and provide one or two sodas and a sandwhich for the crew.

Is it really that big of a deal???

When I was with the city during the height of the crack wars we were told that the police were the only aganecy allowed to have them and that when the law changes and that you dont have to be a police officer to have a vest that will be when we get them. When did FDNY start to give them out ??????

Dec 16, 1960 two airliners collide over NYC, does anyone remember this here are some pictures of it. 1960 December 16th. Airplane Crash Brooklyn: United DC-8 from Chicago to Idlewild airport (today JFK) collided in fog over NYC with TWA Super Constellation from Dayton to La Guardia Airport and crashed in two boroughs, 134 people died, 1 child survived Methodist Hospital 0n 7th street and 7th avenue, was where the child was taken to. They use to have the change that was in the child’s pocket that was all melted together from the fire on display in a cabinet in the front lobby. http://www.brooklynpix.com/catalog06f.php?locality_no=12611

You know this is really sad that this is even a subject, its a parade who cares, what is even sadder is that this was posted yesterday and has over 1000 views to it and posted on March 6th is an interesting and very good training class called every Ny responder goes home and it has only 438 views. No one will have to worry both Villages will be coverd and no mutal aid needed. Not that it was ever needed when both villages did march. The memebers that I have spoken to really dont care if we march or not. Once again its a parade who cares, no ones life is in danger.

When I started working with SEMO a year ago Ed Jacoby had already retired, I met him a few times, on differnt occasions. Ed Jacoby was admired and well respected throughout the state. His honesty, humor, leadership, and many other qualities will be missed. Mr. Jacoby Region II will never be the same without you gracing us with your presence. Rest in Peace Boss. : (

We use to call them DOA kits. Comes in handy if you are standing around waiting to gain access and the smell is over whelming, one cheap ciger, 2 hankerchiefs, one bottle of cheap aftershave, one lighter for the ciger. In the city when we transport DOA's we also carried a body bag, rubber gloves that came up to your elbows, and some plastic sheets to cover the strectcher. Of course none of this is part 800.

Keeping in mind this is not etched in stone, It seems the Village does not think they need a new fire company. Columbia Hose may be going over to a Quint when they are due for a new rig which is in the next ten years. That will give us two ladders one in the upper end and one in the lower end. As far as the ambulance goes me personally I would relocate them to Central HQ, but I do not make that decsion. Like I said none of this is etched in stone, and by time it is built the leaders to be would have changed hands numorus of times.

this happend monday Hey... A car struck FDNY-EMS Capt. Steven Quirindongo (46) so hard it smashed the vehicle's windshield and sent him flying through the air. Quirindongo a 19-year veteran, was on the scene of a fire in the Bronx yesterday afternoon when a civilian car drove past the cops barricades and hit him from behind. FDNY had 2 FF's with minor injuries and FDNY EMS was treating them when Capt. Quirindongo was walking back to the ambulance and struck by the civilian vehicle. The Captain was walking from the scene across a street to the EMS unit when a Volkswagen struck him. Surveillance cameras at a gas station on the street caught the impact. The driver, 40 year-old Jay Friedenberg of Greenwich, CT was charged with failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and driving on the wrong side of the street. Capt. Quirindongo was listed in serious condition last night.
