  5. I think these youg players have lit a fire under the other players a** by them knowing that no job is safe.
  6. It’s that time of year again, when I see more people cleaning there Engines and Ladders then there was on last nights call. What is so big about these parades that are judged? Then you go to a Memorial Day parade or a 9/11 memorial and hardly anyone shows up. Is because there is no trophy given, or no free beer garden at the end? Does it really matter who had the best Engine? Or who had the most in line? Why are these parades such a big deal?
  7. As far as training I have never heard of any real formal training, I just think its brothers and sisters helping fellow brothers and sisters. I could be very wrong on this. Does anyone know for sure. Also maybe if these people who are involved in CISD here can let Seth know and maybe some one who just needs to talk to someone can contact Seth and he can contact the members of this board who are members of CISD and put the two in touch. Sometimes we all need to talk and sometimes just tlaking to our partner does not help, some times we just need a stranger to air out to. That is if Seth is willing we all know how busy he is with this site.
  8. I would be worried about people going tellng others what was said in that forum, CISD is suppose to be private, also a big concern can be reporters, how many repoters use this site that we dont know of.
  9. I know the topic of mutual aid has been beaten to death here, but the last two subjects I have kept my mouth shut on it because I had noting nice to say about it, well now its still not nice, but should still be within the boards rules. I don’t mind giving mutual aid, but this is when the problems come in. When we are on the third call to you area for the day for the third my toe hurts take me to the hospital call, and the car accident comes in as we are leaving the hospital and then you get out, the other problem is thanksgiving night as We are sitting down with our families and on the way to the call as we pass your quarters a full crew is sneaking out of your building, the family of the patent complains to us that we took so long to get to them when sometimes we are the 3rd or 4th ambulance called and the family never looks at the side of the ambulance or our uniforms to see where we came from. We just tell them sorry we are covering the area tonight for such and such Corp, and we had a hard time finding you, Just to make you look good. When we get dispatched to a call by an outside dispatch such as 60 control or Mount Pleasant Police and we are on scene for ten minutes and you show up with your crew and accuse us for buffing your call. These are some of the problems we have run into many times. These are the problems that start to make member not want to come out anymore, basically taking advantage of the mutual that is provided to you. We use to do so much mutual aid to our town and to towns outside our area our motto was have ambulance, will travel. Now we have seen many agencies in our town change, some have gotten better, and some have gotten good. Basically what keeps our members coming is if we don’t then, who will.

  17. Book Title: Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10 Author: Marcus Luttrell's Lone Publisher: Little, Brown and Company Publication Date: June 12, 2007 ISBN: 0312306172 Official Website: Purchase Link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/031606759...2488642-1226257 Book Description On a clear night in late June 2005, four U.S. Navy SEALs left their base in northern Afghanistan for the mountainous Pakistani border. Their mission was to capture or kill a notorious al Qaeda leader known to be ensconced in a Taliban stronghold surrounded by a small but heavily armed force. Less then twenty-four hours later, only one of those Navy SEALs remained alive. This is the story of fire team leader Marcus Luttrell, the sole survivor of Operation Redwing, and the desperate battle in the mountains that led, ultimately, to the largest loss of life in Navy SEAL history. But it is also, more than anything, the story of his teammates, who fought ferociously beside him until he was the last one left-blasted unconscious by a rocket grenade, blown over a cliff, but still armed and still breathing. Over the next four days, badly injured and presumed dead, Luttrell fought off six al Qaeda assassins who were sent to finish him, then crawled for seven miles through the mountains before he was taken in by a Pashtun tribe, who risked everything to protect him from the encircling Taliban killers. A six-foot-five-inch Texan, Leading Petty Officer Luttrell takes us, blow-by-blow, through the brutal training of America's warrior elite and the relentless rites of passage required by the Navy SEALs. He transports us to a monstrous battle fought in the desolate peaks of Afghanistan, where the beleaguered American team plummeted headlong a thousand feet down a mountain as they fought back through flying shale and rocks. In this rich , moving chronicle of courage, honor, and patriotism, Marcus Luttrell delivers one of the most powerful narratives ever written about modern warfare-and a tribute to his teammates, who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. I am gung-ho as the next person, and I do understand and respect how good the Navy SEALs are. They are the best of the best in the world, but if you can get past every few pages of great detail how good the navy SEALs are then this is a very good read. Luttrell the author and his first hand account of how all of this went down is very intersting, but like I said above the great detail every few pages of the greatness of the SEALS is just filler and could of cut the book down by 30 pages. It is a good quick summer read. The chapters on the Pashtun tribe, I found to be very intersting how there hatred for the Americans gets pushed aside and the loyilty they showed to the sole surviving SEAL, kinda gave me a little different outlook and maybe some small respect for some of the tribes in Afghanistan. This is not to say they would do it again though. If anyone is interested in reading this book contact me I will give you my copy for free (you can keep the book).
  18. Book Title: Blackwater: The Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army Author: Jeremy Scahill Publisher: Nations Books Publication Date: (February 15, 2007) ISBN: 0312306172 Official Website: Purchase Link: http://www.amazon.com/Blackwater-Rise-Worl...2255&sr=1-1 Meet BLACKWATER USA, the world's most secretive and powerful mercenary firm. Based in the wilderness of North Carolina, it is the fastest-growing private army on the planet with forces capable of carrying out regime change throughout the world. Blackwater protects the top US officials in Iraq and yet we know almost nothing about the firm's quasi-military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and inside the US. Blackwater was founded by an extreme right-wing fundamentalist Christian mega-millionaire ex- Navy Seal named Erik Prince, the scion of a wealthy conservative family that bankrolls far-right-wing causes. Blackwater is the dark story of the rise of a powerful mercenary army, ranging from the blood-soaked streets of Fallujah to rooftop firefights in Najaf to the hurricane-ravaged US gulf to Washington DC, where Blackwater executives are hailed as new heroes in the war on terror. This is an extraordinary exposé by one of America's most exciting young radical journalists. What I found intersting was, since Black water is considered part of the Amercian war machine, they are exempt from wrongful death actions and also since they are a private contractor they do not have to follow the rules of warfare. I found this book intersting but keep in mind it is written from the left wing side. But it did leave you thinking about many things
  19. Ummmmmmm how do I explain this, the poeple of NYC were not pissed about the noise, they were scared becasue the last time a plane flew that low and fast it hit the towers, and its not banned for the flyovers they just have to let the cititzens of NY know they are doing it.
