I think it's a question of what New Rochelle is doing right and others are doing wrong.

Does Bedford have a tanker?

Larchmont has a cascade on their new rescue. Small one though don't know the specs or capability.

Anyone know why they chose the Inferno chassis as opposed to the Ultra they went with with the engines?

I thought I had heard a while back that Pelham didn't have any more volunteers due to the lack of interest of the community, and that carrying the volunteers was too expensive for their insurance.
-
I think Larchmont just has the mentality "The Town Of Mamaroneck will cover us". What if they have their own calls to cover? I can't imagine the Town is OK with this. What happens if somebody is trapped in a fire in Larchmont? How will they justify sending all their career firefighters, the only ones who can drive Larchmont apparatus, to cover a firehouse in Yonkers? In effect, they took the entire department out of service to go mutual aid to standby for another department that's not even nearby. How will they explain that to the residents? I hope Larchmont comes up with a better plan for next time.

Larchmont had 3 members in quarters. But volunteers cannot drive so their apparatus was useless. They did a callback of career staff but that didn't place an engine into service until 5AM, several hours after the TL left with all the career staff on duty to go to Yonkers to standb

My department built a brand new fitness room, with a complete set of top of the line equipment. It is probably the least used room and equipment in the firehouse. It's a good question. How do you get guys motivated and how do you tell them they are out of shape when that becomes an issue?

Does anyone have any tips or tricks on how to keep a water can from freezing in the back of a Command or Utility vehicle that is kept outside at night or during the day?

Definitely a legend. Will miss seeing his photos. RIP.

Does Yonkers FD have a backup radio system? What failed on their that's going to take so long to fix? Do they have any Yonkers FD Dispatchers staged at 60 Control to assist?

When you dispatch an EMS call and specify the age, sex, and condition of the patient, and the last name of the residence on the radio all in the same transmission, couldn't that be considered violating the patient's privacy?
-
I was told that Somers FD is disbanding their dive team, and selling all the equipment due to lack of manpower to support a dive team and meet all the training requirements? Can anyone confirm or deny this? It would certainly leave a large void in an area where a dive team is needed. How many members must you have for a dive team response including trained divers? Is Yorktown the next closest team?

Anyone know why Westchester County DES declined Yonkers request for their Medical Evacuation Bus unit for response to their noxious odor MCI at Yonkers Middle School with over 100 patients needing treatment and transport from the scene?

Thanks for the info. But please note I said declined and not refused in my initial post though. Good to know the unit is available for scene response and not just for very rare situations. However, what's taking so long to place it into service and when will it be placed into service? And who staffs it?

Our department recently went through flashover simulation training, including a couple of rounds in a flashover simulator. Is it "normal" for SCBA's to undergo repeated extreme conditions, such as flashovers, back to back, several times? Some of our SCBA's look worse for the wear after going in several times with several different firefighters, and our chief assures us this is what SCBA's are designed for. I know SCBA's are designed to go into fires repeatedly during their service life, but I thought I remember our SCBA vendor telling us that SCBA's need a check up after undergoing extreme fire conditions.
