I would like some information or advice regarding joining the military as a firefighter.
several sources have said to join the air force.
I would like to hear facts about the air force
I would like to hear especially from military personnel who have already served.
Does anyone have any experience in the air force as a firefighter?
i would like to way my options before making my decision.

I'm trying to verify that the results for the civil service test for Mount Vernon has not been announced yet...
I took the test back in April of 2014. I spoke to civil service, they explained to me there still waiting on
Albany to grade the tests. Apparently there's poor communication. Correct me if i'm wrong but it shouldn't take 5 - 6 months
to grade tests..
I know that the fire academy is held twice a year at the Valhalla training center.
In the fall and spring. it has to be done soon an order for the fall class
Is anyone else waiting for this test?
Has anyone heard different about the results or as to when the physical will be.?
I greatly appreciate any feedback.

I'm new to this site.
My question is regarding the test I took 1 year ago. I took the fdny test and got a score of 88. I know its a long long list of people still waiting. But I was wondering if anyone new where fdny is in terms of the list... Are they further down the list at all??
Its my dream to work for the fdny. I've been trying for years. I'm also a volunteer fire fighter if that makes any difference, but i doubt it. I've read in the papers applicants are not getting hired because of the physical agility test.
