Some mentioned were big posters on here, often very critical of others, and very outspoken about what is right and wrong. Where are they now

They will stand by for other jurisdicitions if the jurisdicition is making an effort to recall it's own personnel to backfill. If they don't make an effort to recall off-duty/additional FF, then Yonkers will take up and return to the city after a reasonable amount of time.

Does yonkers stand by in other jurisdictions when asked or do they only go mutual aid when responding to the scene?

I heard that Warner Brothers has said they will no longer license any General Lee products.
This of course because a show about two convicted felons who repeatedly ran from the law was not a bad idea. But the car they drove in the 1970's having the same logo as one owned by someone else in 2015 who may never have even seen the show, well that's clearly racist.

Why are people so surprised this happened when you hear months of anti=police rhetoric from our elected officals, talking heads on TV and members of the Civil Rights Industry ( no longer a movement but a business),now some deranged person took all this in and took action. A similar event occurred in Harlem at Freddy's when a nut job listened to the banter ( from some of the same characters we had involved now) about white interlopers running stores in Harlem and took action and about seven people died in the hostage situation and resulting fire. When the language gets nasty and continuous on the 24 hour news cycle someone out there may go further as we just saw.

Sort of like the old kitchen table quote. Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. They can go on TV and try to spin this any which way they please. The facts are indisputable. A gang member from Baltimore shot and killed his girlfriend ( most likely because she was going to out him on his plan ) and headed to NYC to " put wings on pigs today ". I can see the cover of the Times tomorrow. Ismaaiyl Brinsley was a good kid who was only weeks away from attending community college to get his life in order. He was active in his community ( selling crack to the community ) and a role model ( to the kids they hire to sell the crack ). His mother Ms Not his last name and father Mr not his last name ( because he a was being raised by his Aunt ) can't understand what went wrong in his life and can't believe those cops chased their son down the subway and shot him ( he would never kill himself ). Lets blame everyone in society for our problems and not look in the mirror and hold ourselves accountable. WHAT A TRAGEDY IN ALL ASPECTS OF THIS STORY. THANK YOU PRESIDENT OBAMA, MAYOR DEBLASIO, AL SHARPTON ( I refuse to use Rev in front of his name ) JESSE JACKSON AND ALL OF THE HATE SPEWING RACIST LEADERS IN THIS COUNTRY!!!!

I believe the issue for WCDES is that there is no accomodation in the vehicle to TREAT patients. That is why it does not respond to MCI as a general policy. In theory, it is designed for hospital patients being evacuated that are non-ambulatory but stable with no treatment (except maybe hanging an existing IV bag). Someone mentioned a school bus which, as we all know, is fine for ambulatory patients not requiring treatment. Is the vehicle a poor excuse for spending Federal UASI money on something that could have had more usefulness? That's answer is above my pay grade!!

Yes but do they have the trained personnel available to operate all of that equipment that was purchased with our grant (read tax) money?
If it sits there with no one to operate it, its useless
If it responds, but with only a small % of the personnel needed to perform the mission, its useless
and if it responds to incidents without being called, and ignores policies, procedures and ICS in general, because "nobody can stop us", its more than useless it is a danger to themselves, other responders and the community.

Why not the same level of service? I bet it will be better VOPD is probably better versed in handling the patrolling of the town. They can handle whatever comes as they have shown in the past. If special services are need the county pd can be called on as the town residents continue to pay county taxes. In my opinion they get the best of both worlds.

The Village of Ossining Police Department is well equipped to handle anything the Town of Ossining needs. The officers of the Village PD are recognized by almost everyone in the Ossining School District area and have conducted nearly all of the Police work in the school system...ie....Dare etc. They are very well respected by all! As far as being able to cover the Town with the addition of a few officers it would be much quicker for additional officers and equipment to respond from the Village than waiting for extra officers to come from all parts of the county. Have no fear the officers who were Town who went with the County can find plenty of work with the County at the airport at least to save some overtime for the County. This plan is a HOME RUN!

I don't understand, if someone disagrees with you then the rules are changed. Nothing in this thread has been half as bad as I have seen you let others do.

Thank you Barry couldn't have said it better my self. I am not arguing that the villages get the money or that the village fire departments get the money. that wasn't the intention. Its the fact that the Town pays a lot of money for fire protection. money that could be used to equal out the Fire tax base in the Town of Greenburgh
Your right about Edgemont also Barry.

Why souldnt the villages get money for their general funds? The villages are paying the fire departments budgets and it costs money to cover the unincorporated areas for Greenburgh. I am just not sure what you were getting at.

Are you kidding me, volunteer departments only survive because employers let the employees respond to fires/ems calls. Can you imagine the uproar in the community when those public employees no longer go on fire calls and instead the village has to PAY a fire department to respond, and the community has to pay for that. This is not about pay vs volunteer, but municipalities have to set an example and allow there employees to respond to calls if they expect other businesses to do the same. This is vital to the sustainability of the volunteer service.

Another idiotic comment! The teacher may not run but how about members of the custodial staff?
" when the town is paying you to serve the town get to work" what do you call volunteering.? That is serving the town! volunteers are considered employees!
Your most rediculous statement " would you still go if your job stopped paying you?" , we are talking about a volunteer fire department, they respond and don't get paid. They get up in the middle of the night when they are not being paid to sleep and respond to alarms.
No one is crying yet! The taxpayers will be when they have to pay for a fully staffed fire department.
Career departments are necessary in certain places and I hope those firefighters get the best pay and benefits. But, the volunteer service serves the majority of this country and many places can not afford a paid department. This thread is not about paid vs volunteer. We can both make stupid statements about the other side.
This is about a municipality depending on a life saving volunteer service but not being willing to let there own employees volunteer. It just does not make sense.
