Yes, though I'm not very active.

We seem to be back up. Still investigating what happened. Not sure there was an malicious attempt now, could have been a malfunction of the database that supports the site. Thanks for your patience.
-
Yes. Seems like were victims of malicious attacks yet again. We are hoping to have everything back up soon.

We have two loaded on Scan60.com but they are not all that recent and may not be what you need: http://scan60.com/modules/zina/

Can't be sure but I think it could be the North White Plains siren...

From what I was able to gather, when the site is not reachable, the browser makes little difference. Sometimes DNS issues make the site unavailable from some places and available from others. When it's server issues, the site is unavailable from anywhere.

We are now back online. Seems like the version of the content management we use had holes that were exploited. Tthe sole purpose of the malicious attacks was to 'break' and 'deface' the site. We restored from backups and upgraded to all the latest versions. It offers no guarantee but we should be in better shape. As of 9:30am, we are back up and everything appears to be working okay. If you notice anything wrong, please let me know using the "Contact Us" link on the site or via email at admin@scan60.com. Thank you for your patience. A bad week for computers I guess...

I agree that RadioReference.com is definitely the place to go, Not only will the forum help you but their database will provide plenty of frequencies. I also strongly recommend the software from BuTel Software. Their programmers are very easy to use and very powerful to program scanners.

Just got it a couple of months back. Can't compare to Cable but the difference with DSL is insane. Basic browsing stays the same but media stuff or large downloads are really improved.

Connecting multiple scanners should not deminish the reception much really... You should be able to T off a line or use splitters similar to TV Coax splitters and feed multiple scanners with very little interference. The problems only come if you start transmitting on an antenna... In this case, using a splitter would completly screw up the SWR of the line and affect the transmission capacity. As for filters, there are tons of them. The basics are usually refered to as High-Pass, Bandpass or Low-Pass filter. A low-pass filter cuts high frequencies and a high-pass filter cuts low frequencies. A bandpass filter filter cuts everything but a specified range.

We are terribly sorry for the long outage but the Feed1 for White Plains is finaly back online. I promise we will work on improving reliability. Thanks!

I have a Uniden BC296D and I really like it. It is a little bulky to carry but it does a good job and is very easy to program. I would definitly recommend buying the Arc250pro software from Butel (http://www.butel.nl/index.html). It makes programming the Uniden scanner a lot easier than with the included software. You can buy it pretty much anywhere. I got mine from scannermaster.com.

First, our apoligies to anyone who tried using Scan60.com in the last couple of days and failed. We had a power outage since the storm tuesday night and power only came back this morning around 10:30am. The good news is we are now back online and both feeds are up and running. Hopefuly, it stays that way (not sure how many temporary fixes ConEd had to do). Maybe a generator ought to be on our wish list... :-)

Just FYI, we have added a significant amount of bandwidth behind Scan60.com, which should make the listening experience overall more pleasurable. I was finaly able to get rid of the 3 hours timeout on the feed. You will still have to re-login to browse the site as the cookie expires but you should be able to grab a feed in the morning and listen all day assuming nothing bounces. Please keep us posted on how you like the site, if you find it useful and what we could do to make it better.

We are trying to see how far we can push on our current bandwidth. Tuesday and yesterday, we where limited to 20 listeners. Once the 20 slots where full, new connection would not be able to listen to the feed which is what happened to quite a few people yesterday. I bumped up the limit for today but I'm not sure how many listeners we can truly handle on our current bandwidth. The limit I have on for today may very well be much much passed my capacity so we'll see. -- grandcancuck
