I like the idea of agencies getting together and buying the same equipment in bulk. This makes sense for two reasons. First you don't have to worry about getting your stuff back and second how many times have you gone on a mutual aid call and tried to use another departments equipment and not known how. One example is Somers FD in the past couple of months have started using the Laerdal speed blocks (http://www.laerdal.com/document.asp?subnodeid=7783338) which are operated differently then the old style squishy blocks. BUT I don't think that everyone buying standard equipment together is a practical idea. I think that there would be a lack of organization.

This is what I have heard so far The Old MA-14 will be replacing U-5 and the skid is coming out. The old U-5 will become the new maintenance vehicle. MA-14 was built by Firematic and it will be housed at Somers house.The old chief's vehicle that was replaced was officially put into service yesterday as Utility 81. 81 will be a fire and ems vehicle not being officially recognized as a fly car but still carrying some of the basic EMS equipment. When I get a chance I'll post or send x635 pics of both of the new vehicles.

Up in New Hampshire on the way home form a concert my girlfriend got pulled over for doing 80 in a 35 and then 5 miles down the road she got pulled over by a different cop for doing 50 in a 40 I had to take over the driving responsibilities after that for the rest of the trip. It was pretty funny though between the cop's yelling and her being hysterical.

Goose I was thinking that myself. Motorists would give more respect to a police car then an ambulance.

We use the G-Xtreme gear with the radio pocket on the upper left hand side of the chest. I find that it works well untill you put a pack on. But once you have an air pack on the shoulder straps fun right over the pocket and the mic clip strap making it very uncomfortable and hard to use.
