I just looked it up quickly on the NYS DMV website and well I guess its true. 3. Subdivision two of this section shall not apply to (a) the use of a mobile telephone for the sole purpose of communicating with any of the following regarding an emergency situation: an emergency response operator; a hospital, physician's office or health clinic; an ambulance company or corps; a fire department, district or company; or a police department, (b ) any of the following persons while in the performance of their official duties: a police officer or peace officer; a member of a fire department, district or company; or the operator of an authorized emergency vehicle as defined in section one hundred one of this chapter, or (c ) the use of a hands-free mobile telephone.

In our FD for EMS calls we do call-ins. I was always curious if it was violating the law, but someone told me one day that there was an exemption written in the law. That is NY but im not too sure if that is right so don't quote me on that.

That is a POV?

The Somers middle and high school also have a resource officer from the troopers barracks. Somers High school also has security cameras the the front entrances and all of the doors are locked from the outside.
-
Doc, I thought Croton Falls went straight to all trunked is that true?
-
Somers FD has a dive team. Speaking of resources does anyone know if Mahopac Falls still has the hovercraft? I heard that it was out of service. Any one know if its back, that thing was cool to watch.

There is a NY state firefighting museum located at the firemen's home in Hudson, NY. It has a lot of cool antique apparatus, equipment and pictures. Definately worth the trip. It is somewhere near the Rip Van Winkle Bridge up in the Catskills. I can't remember how to get there exactly. http://www.fasnyfiremuseum.com/home.php

THose were hillarious. Good find thanks for posting that made my night.

That is an interesting idea but I don't see it working that well. There still will be manpower problems. You can't take cops away from the streets to roll rigs. I don't see how that really works maybe someone can explain it in more depth?

why is the siren sounded at 11Am on 11/11?
-
This product is perfect for all of the sound proof cars that we are experiencing these days. It is good for sound proof cars because the low frequency waves can penetrate glass and cause a vibration effect. The Rumbler is also ideal for intersections because the siren does not just send the sound waves out straight like most traditional sirens. It sends them out in all directions in the front. This makes it easier to be heard from all three sides of an intersection, including the sides.

The new Somers ambulance which is a PL Custom is coming with one. Can't wait to see if it works and what it sounds like.

Don't some of the new Uniden Scanners Have the tone out feature? DOes anyone know how that works. I think that the Uniden BCT-15 has it. Any more info?

Giants are up now, but not for long. I think that the pats will take this game.

I liked the idea of the scan alert. But I don't think that it was too widely used. I wish that we could bring that back. The incident Alerts are why I started coming to emtbravo originally.

As a lifeguard at a small local pool with only at the most 25 people there I made 15 dollars and hour. That was the best and easiest summer job. I think that EMT's and Medics should get paid more but I don't think that it will happen until there is organization. You need to have a strong union to back you up like the IAFF.
